Next Thursday we are taking our grandson (aged 4) to coughet Thailand for 10 days. Does anyone know if we need formal permission from his parents. Common sense states that we should take some form of documentation with us however after looking into this it appears that we will require a notary to sign it as well as include a certifide copy of his birth certificate.

Does anyone have any experience travelling to Thailand without the grand childs parents and can you share any issues you may have had.

Thanks Bolthead

I have first hand experience of travelling to/from Thailand with my 8 year old daughter since she was born.

Bangkok immigration is awful. Chiang Mai amd coughet immigration much better and not as strict.

You'll need birth certificate for sure and you may also need some document from parents that it's OK to travel with grandson.

Good luck with the trip.
