Had a two night stay in Tokyo followed by a one night stay a week later.
I use “melon” to book my travel for work which is the Flight Center corp travel app.
I hunted around to find something decent around Ginza/Roppongi and saw the Grand Hyatt priced at £125. (Yes pounds…)
Not only was it £300 cheaper than booking direct, it was for the diplomat suite, which prices typically at £1500 during the week.
I booked it and it was a prepaid rate.
I didn’t hold out much hope for actually getting it so booked the Intercon on a fully flex rate just in case.
Well I watched the booking sit in my Hyatt app right up until my arrival at the hotel.
I checked in and the desk manager looked at the rate, looked at me, looked at the rate and asked me who booked it.
I told him it was booked via our corp account.
He huffed a bit then said that it was a very low rate.
I just shrugged my shoulders.
He gave me the room key and I was escorted to the largest suite I’ve ever had in Japan.
Couldn’t believe my luck
Great view of Tokyo Tower and full club lounge access.
As I had booked a week later, I had no expectations but was again offered the suite.
Happy days.
*Rate gone sadly.
