I have been looking into new credit cards lately and have noticed in the T&C's that there seems to be a regular exclusion regarding government payments, which is very vague. Reading through the forums I have also noticed many are getting reward points even though it's not listed in the T&C's. Has anyone made a list/chart/spreadsheet that lists what cards give what rewards for which government service (Ato, vehicle registration, council rates, fines etc.) it seems to me that it would be very popular and surely something the community will help update.

Getting points outside T&Cs is great. It would be popular sure, but I wouldn't want that information only a quick 2 clicks away from someone in a CC company

Please read the ato payments thread. The exclusion is generally along the lines of government payments, taxes and levies and referred originally to statutory charges and not legitimate payments. But more companies are using this clause to get out of payments. The world of CC is changing fast so best to just read the last 200-300 posts to get an idea of what is still working.

Yeah fair call, I'll compile a personal list for my own reference gathered from experiments and research

Sharing experience is the essence of AFF and I would never discourage it . It's just there may be consequences of collating info so that it can be cut&pasted into the powerpoint of an ambitious new employee of ANZ/NAB/Amex etc
