Just wondering?
Figured that it would've been a notable discussion point today as it became live in last 24 hours au time approx.

Anyways, YAY !!!

:)Googe flights with actual local relevance !

What I did notice recently is that 'Currency' now permanently set to A$ instead of having to constantly select it - I was meaning to ask was this a permanent change - didn't notice anything else though.

I saw the announcement but really was not clear how different it was from using Google Flights now and changing the currency to AUD.

Is this why Google no longer displays flight schedules in the search results? Now I just get a "sponsored" link to Google flights.

I had noticed this as well lately. It's really annoying as I used to use Google all the time to quickly find the schedules on a particular route. Not only can I not do this anymore, but Google is now trying to sell me flights.

Heya All,

Am appreciating everyones thoughts & input.

Previously, and maybe through lack of experience I had found it hard/impossible to use GFlights to test local Dom or Sth Pacific, Australiasian routes.

I'm thinking I have been making a systemic mistake in my approach.

Through the au link , suddenly I seem to be able to explore local, and regional, and pacific local possibilities for base and time relevant pricing.

As for the change of exchange rate suggestions, I have always done the calcs mentally and not bothered changing the currency...
Maybe this was my downfall.

If anyone can point out my downfall in the use of origidige googleflights, it would be much appreciated.

On a Side note, I wonder if the .com site vs the.com.au site will provide similar results......
.......or will it provide a regionally biased version as Apple and other aggregators do some times?

Thankyou all.
Happy Wednesday :)

You can still find the flight schedules, just have to type schedule after the flights, which is mildly irritating, but still works.

E.g. BNE-SYD schedule

Workaround for those who prefer Google's old flight schedule display.. simply search via Google Hong Kong or any regional Google site that's not from:

-Australia
-Brazil
-Belgium
-Canada
-France
-Germany
-India
-Indonesia
-Ireland
-Italy
-Malaysia
-Mexico
-Netherlands
-New Zealand
-Poland

If you prefer using the old one, and not get redirected to a .au site:

In your URL bar type: google.com/ncr

NCR = no country redirect.

Then in the search bar in the middle of teh page (not the URL bar) type flights. You'll see a flight search function on the results page, or, if you click the link to Google Flights in the search results, you'll end up on the US site.
