Good indoor hotel pools in NSW (ex SYD)?

Hi there,

I've booked a (refundable) family holiday to Hamilton Island for my wife's 40th birthday in June ... and I'm now worried that we may be locked out so would like to try and explore a backup option (or two). If we are going to go on holidays with a 3 year old there needs to be a beach (warm weather), or in the case of a mid-winter NSW holiday* a good indoor (or heated) pool.

Any suggestions?

Parameters:
  • In NSW but not in Sydney
  • Extra bonus points if the indoor pool has a graduated entry and shallow end for a 3 year old to wade in (I know this is probably a pipe dream)
  • Not at a holiday park - something Holiday Inn / Hilton Garden Inn quality or better (but doesn't need to be a brand name hotel)

My research has turned up the following semi-viable options (which have mainly come from https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/HotelsList-New_South_Wales-Resorts-With-Indoor-Pools-zfp14946732.html):

  1. Mantra Port Macquarie
  2. Fairmont Blue Mountains

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

* We went to OOL for my wife's birthday a few years ago and it was jeans and jumper weather. So I don't think Byron or vicinity will still be beach weather in June. The Hilton Gold Coast incidentally has a lovely indoor pool.

Many years since I stayed at the Aanuka in Coffs Harbour but it might have some of your requirements

Voco Hunter Valley had a decent heated indoor pool and spa. I don't recall if there was a shallow end of the pool, sorry.
