Im travelling with 2 others to HKG for work at the end of this year. Looking for a hotel which is <$140 AU$ with breakfast included. Dont mind if its a double room with another bed as we will be out most of the time.

Any hints as to what hotels are good in HKG?

Whereabouts do you want to be exactly? Kowloon side, Hong Kong Island, Lantau Island, New Territories?

Anything in particular you want to see or do?

If you can round it down a bit, suggesting something will be a little easier.

Sorry :) We will be looking at clothing wholesalers, so I really have to find out where they are mainly concentrated.

Holiday Inn Causeway Bay is currently a Pointbreaks hotel.

So buy 40k points that your company can reimburse and book the pointbreak rooms.

I would suggest not having breakfast at the hotel but to visit the myriad of cheap options available.

I think it's gone now. Was removed from the PB's list yesterday, and even though you could still book it last night it's now 25K points for some dates I searched.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Just bumping this as I am leaving in a few weeks! Need a hotel recommendation!

I think a good amount of clothing wholesalers are in Cheung Sha Wan, so something in the Kowloon side will save travelling times (if that's even a concern)... That budget should get you something around Tsim Sha Tsui... will not be 5* though... I don't have any recommendation, normally I look at various hotel site and just look for something that fits with the dates available... Brekkie should probably not be the most important criteria in HK, especially the premium you pay compare to something local around the corner... But I am bias, since I am Chinese and was born there! Good luck searching.

Thanks, I will look around there. 5* doesn't matter.

Ok cool, thanks for the brekkie idea.

Mixed experience with Family & Friends.. on one stay at IC Singapore they didn't want to see the signed voucher, and at another stay, they demanded it and kept it during check in.. If you are a F&F of an ICH employee, then that is definitly a way to go!

Not sure what you mean by mixed experience, you fill in the voucher using the details in the link, and the terms and conditions of the promo specify if you have the link you may pass it on to people not directly related to employees, so there is no need for a relationship to exist at all to qualify, if you are not worried by the lack of frequent stayer benefits its hard to go pass, especially as all you need to do is fill in the form when you check in as I did last week at verious properties.

An employee name is required on the voucher - do you just get creative with a name? Do they have any way of checking?

The link posted above goes with "Steve Sickel", Atlanta HQ - who incidentally is the VP "Loyalty Marketing".

As I have visited Hong Kong six times in the last 4 months, I can confirm that hotel prices vary dramatically depending on what events are happening at the time.

The same hotel can vary from under HK$800/night to well over HK$2000/night for the same room type. So if there are conferences in town at the time, all accommodation can be expensive. But if you are going when the demand is low, many high-quality hotels can be found for under HK$800/night.

This week I found on-line prices in Hong Kong for decent hotels were all over HK$2000/night if the had any rooms available. Our local HK office administrator managed to negotiate HK$1200 for a 4* hotel that was showing as HK$2300 on-line and we have other people staying there at HK$800/night rates that were initiated a few weeks ago (they have been there for multiple weeks and will likely be there until December).

I stayed at the Dorsett Kowloon Hotel in September and in my opinion the hotel was great value for money. Extremely friendly service, clean rooms although a little small (does anyone really need a big room?) and I did not worry about breakfast as we were there for the afternoon/evening only. They even let us check-in early. Top marks for this hotel.

I am looking at staying at Rambler Oasis Hotel for 2 nights in December at AUD66/night with Hotel Club and at that price I will worry about getting my own breakfast.

I was looking at Priority Club hotels but the cheapest is >AUD130/night and to me that sounds like a waste of money as I am only likely to spend 4-6 hours in the room each night and I only need somewhere to leave luggage and golf clubs. I guess to each their own....

I am planning on booking the Holiday Inn Express for HK$627.75. Includes breakfast and is cheaper than the Grand Stamford.
