If you are a QF gold card holder do you get to go any other lounges? ie, if say you are in Singapore can you visit CX lounge etc if you are on a QF flight to oz or a BA flight to UK ?

Yes. As a general rule, a QF Gold (OW Sapphire) can access OW partner J class/FF lounges provided that they are travelling on a OW flight that day.
 
What if you were at BKK flying on EK metal but on QF flight number, would your Gold card get you into the CX lounge at BKK?

No access. Access to oneworld lounges requires that you are on a oneworld marketed AND operated flight. EK is not in oneworld.
 
This is a small trap for people- ticket and metal are important. For Aussies the main gotcha is JQ, 3K etc. Jetstar is not oneworld but QF status gets you into Qantas lounges.

They just have to be open at the time...

So EK not being oneworld, regardless of the metal, will not get you Oneworld lounge access. You do get QF (and EK?) lounge access though.
