My wife and her cousin are flying Virgin economy MEL to BNE tomorrow.
Neither have Velocity status.

I have Gold status and several digital lounge passes but am NOT flying tomorrow.
Is there anyway they can access the lounge with my assistance other than paying for it ?

I have been unsuccessful in forum searches although did find the Anytime Access thread from 6 or 7 years :)

Hi Mike,

If your not flying then they will be out of luck unfortunately..

Actually, @shamatam you should be able to guest even if not flying as that's a legacy aspect of Velocity.

The obvious answer if it is so important is to book a fully flexible fare for later that day. ANYWHERE on Virgin metal..

Bring in the guests, and cancel it on the way out the door, or when you get home, and get a 100% refund.

Thanks @ozstamps , although I considered using my freebie credit card flight, I didn't think of your strategy.
Thanks @serfty , didn't quite understand your "legacy aspect of Velocity". Is this documented anywhere ?
Thanks to the rest of you that replied.
Much appreciated.

While this may all be "too hard" for tomorrow, I have a month to think about their return to MEL from the UK.

As a Gold you can guest one into the lounge without flying. You can try your luck in trying to get both in together.

Tried this at Canberra not long ago, as I had a friend fly with Virgin, and was turned away. Is there something different I should've said/done?

They were wrong to turn you away. A Gold/Platinum does need to be travelling to enter lounge but the guest(s) needs to be travelling Virgin.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I thought they removed that anytime access perk a little while ago? I thought it got reduced to lounge on arrival access for platinums only.

Anytime access was removed 15th August 2012.

This access being discussed here is based on the statused member's guest travelling VA, not the member.

i.e. Access is permitted when one of the guests is flying VA (or a partner airline) but the WP/SG is not.

There's mention here: Gold Anytime with Guest

Seems we were both wrong with this one JohnK.

Now that is interesting and something I did not know .

Does anyone do this regularly? And can confirm?

@KCMil and @JohnK have used it I believe.

I recently took my wife in to the PER lounge (i'm WP) when i wasn't flying. They initially said we couldn't go in but relented. I later got an email from the Lounge Mgr clarifying that the WP had to be flying for access to be granted, she even sent the relevant T&C's.

Reckon you could post those here?

Thanks @JohnK , I might just pay the rip off parking rates, go in and try my luck.
Mike
Apologies everyone, I never got to try getting access to the lounge.
On the way to the airport, the ''cousin'' told me her Echuca family were at the airport to have lunch with her.
Not happy, dropped them off and went home.
