Going after P1 to get Row 4 seating, but have any other benefits materialised?

I think 380 is a lot. I was 200 short and managed to put together a JASA that put me over the line by flying BNE-ME-SYD rather than BNE-SYD. It cost 40K points and something like $100. That was about ok for me but I am not sure I would have seen the benefits at 80K +$200.

Foolishly I have also factored in a bad routing to JED with long layovers in BKK and AMM which due to a further increase in travel is now unnecessary and I could have flown with shorter layovers - but it was $4K cheaper and I have already committed that cost saving to the business...

I haven't been able to get further forward than 3rd row of whY for quite a while and that is the main reason I tried to push for P1. The other key benefit I see is the ability to open up awards.
Even at T-80 hours?

I find that suprising. As a mere Platinum I struggle at times and today I could only get to 24J from my original 25J. Generally I am travelling at peak times but most times have no issue getting to first row of economy.

If all you guys are going for Platinum One then I need to make sure I am quick off the mark at T-80 hours! ;)

It has just dawned on me. (Yes I know I'm a half wit!) It is quite possible to have reached P1 with just 1800 SC's of flying! (With the great double SC give away!) Is this right Red Roo?

I can't believe QF would devalue P1 so quickly.....actually I can. It is going to make seat selection that bit harder!!

A sizeable chunk of my SCs are from DSC promos. This is my forecast out turn for the year ending 30 Sep (DB refers to double SC promo related):

QF: 2,090
KA; 160
CX: 980
DB: 650

Tot:3,880

You have been around for a while. You know Platinum has been devalued to death in the past 5-6 years. Why do people think that Platinum One was going to be different?

Dont think this meets the minimum amount of status credits that MUST be earned on Qantas marketed Flights which is currently 2700 so unless the CX and KA were QF flight numbers then sorry to say then P1 will be a NO

It does.

QF: 2,090
DB: 650 (Double QF SCs)

Total QF: 2,740

Sorry about that - I was trying to get the formatting to work so put in DB rather than DBL or double. JohnK is correct.

Amazingly since then I have been able to move from 6C to 4C on this week's flight - coincidentally the flight that will tick over to P1.
