I seemed to have good / bad luck when booking my trip for mid May to the USA.
Sitting on my night shift umming and aahhing over when to go and where to go.
QF and UA had some really great fares, and then, when i finally dcied at 2am on a Tuesday mornign the fares were all double what they had been just a few hrs earlier.
Checked out VA and they still had cheap fares, with PE at < 1K each way.
I do wish VAust and V America would team up. TO be able to arrive at LAX and be able to then use VUS to get to NYC and back would have been an added bonus.
To rub salt into the wound QF started there current sale on the Wed and I could have prob saved a bit of money gettoing to NYC with them.
I think their PE for <2K return is excellent value. I dont think it's worth the money QF charge, or the 4K+ that VAus would like to charge.
At least the points will be my velocity balance to the level where I can have a free OW to Bali at some point.
I do hope VAus survive. I think they do have an advantage in having the wider seats, brand spanking new planes, and they should be able to appeal to those who like to fly a local carrier.
