I have one of those $30 hotel birthday vouchers that I can't use because of coronavirus. It expires 31 March.

I have a friend in Turkey who has been doing business trips (which is still allowed) in Turkey. I would like to give him my $30 voucher which amounts to around 112 TRY which is a free night in a 2-3* hotel over there. So how do I do this?

Should I make a booking for him on my account with myself as primary and him as second guest?
Make the booking on my account with only him in the room? ( I would get the points then)
Have him set up a QF account in Turkey and I give him the voucher code?
I set him up a QF account via Woolies using my home address?

I believe he can just book the hotel on the QF website himself and input the discount code at the payment page...

He doesn't have a QF account as he is Turkish and can't really use the points. But he can open one if necessary.

I would rather book it through my account in his name if possible so I get the points.

Can't you just put his name in on the booking? You can book flights for people other than yourself without having to travel with them, I'd be surprised if you couldn't do the same for hotels.

LOL I have never booked travel for other than myself solo or me and my husband traveling together. I have never tried to book a flight or a hotel for someone else before. I just want to make sure he won't have trouble checking in. I tried a dummy run and I can change the name on the booking. But it does say "Your details" on the booking form. Not "Guest details". So I don't know if this is against the rules or something?

You wouldn't be able to change the name if it was against the rules :)

The voucher code is not strictly tied to your account. Give him the voucher code and he'll be able to book travel for himself. He doesn't need QFF account. The QFF account is only if you want to earn QFF points for the hotel booking.
