Gift Cards at Supermarkets

I currently have an Ultimate Qantas Amex and want to buy some MasterCard gift cards to pay some bills that don't accept Amex. Can anyone tell me what is the best way to go about this? Reading the threads, seems I can buy a mastercard gift card in Coles.

Can I also do the same at Woolworths? I know previously I tried buying a mastercard giftcard at woolworths with a Wish Giftcard but it wouldn't work.

Thanks for your help guys.

Woolworths have some prepaid gift cards (I think the Only1 variety) but they have $5.95 fees and I think only come up to $100 at Wow, so you're looking at a 6% fee to start with and the hope whichever bill you're paying accept split payments.

Woolworths' own brand reloadable mastercards can only be loaded using a withdrawl command from a savings account. They cannot be loaded by credit or a savings purchase.

Well, that is new as I have previously checked.

No. Not new. I've been using paypal to pay my Telstra bill since 2014. It's been a good way to avoid the credit card surcharge from Telstra.

I have been doing the same - have dd setup but always pay manually via paypal (Amex).

Whose buying all the gift cards? I cant see any at my woolies or coles!! damit!

Is there a promo on (that I've missed)? What type are you looking for?
EFTPOS branded gift cards at Coles (either $50 or $100 - both have a $5.95 activation fee) earn you 2000 bonus FB points. Offer ends tomorrow, only one lot of bonus points per household (so only really worth buying one card). No need to activate offer, it was advertised in the catalogue and available to everyone.

My offer was also for purchase of Ticketmaster $30 or above, so I took advantage of that to avoid the activation fee.

Did anyone else get offers for other gift cards?

It was 2000 points ($10) for > $30 EFTPOS, Ticketmaster, Ultimate Kids cards. Ends today I think!

Not everywhere accepts Paypal. Telstra, for example, so Visa/MC is the only option.

I have paid Telstra bills directly with an amex before no problem. I think the surcharge could the same as MC/Visa from memory too?

Wish they bring back the free 1000 points for buying the coles mc gift card. Last time I bought 53 cards, but stopped there as I thought I would never use them all. Shoulda continued to buy more!!

I used to pay with a bank issued Amex earning 1.5ppd, but with an Amex-direct card, points earn is only 0.5ppd for a utility company so I have been using my MC for 0.66ppd. I'm now swapping to Paypal/Amex for 1ppd and no surcharge.
