I think its been mentioned elsewhere but GCs didn't count towards Flybuys VA SC earn this month

Does this also mean that if one uses a CMGC in Coles, Kmart, Target etc (ie where one would normally swipe one's flybuys card), that flybuys points/VA SCs are not earned?

Basically buying GC's that you can use within that business does not earn points.

Using them does.

If it earnt both ways we would all only be using GCs as it would double your points.

This used to be true. But there are many exceptions to this now.

See Myer gift cards as just one exception to the old rule:

'Can I get MYER one Shopping Credits for online gift card purchases? As a special bonus to MYER one Members, MYER one Shopping Credits will be awarded for the purchase of a Myer Gift Card made at www.myer.com.au/giftcards. The recipient of the Gift Card will also receive MYER one Shopping Credits when redeeming the Gift Card. Recipient must be a MYER one Member to receive Shopping Credits. MYER one Members will receive Shopping Credits in accordance to the MYER one Program Terms and Conditions. For MYER one Program Terms and Conditions or to join MYER one, please click here'

The online hcf payment system has introduced a $10 minimum payment-this is a shame as it was my favourite method of cashing out the last morsel of a GC.
Maybe its too greVedy to hope for a repeat of the $100 statement credit for 3 payments ;)
Now using roam which has a minimum of 50c but does have a 0.44% surcharge

Sorry if this has already been covered but I tried searching the thread. Are you able to buy "visa only 1" giftcards (not woolworths prepaid visa) from Woolworths using a wish giftcard. Thank you

I don't know that, but I do know that if you buy a Coles Group gift card, you can buy the 'Visa Only 1' cards from Officeworks.

Kogan GCs 10% off at Coles this week - bought $350 worth. Using Qantas online mall when visiting Kogan DOT com - hopefully will get a couple of Qantas points as well, although T&Cs say it won't count.

Anyone else taking advantage of this offer?

Hope springs- the most recent targetted Coles GC bonanza was preceded by a similar offer

Might be time to split mrs excel off to a seperate account

On the downside, there goes my "lowering spend targets" game for the next month

With our Coles group spend well over $1k a month, it makes sense to split just for the SCs.
Multiple accounts bring multiple offers too

Wasnt sure whether to put it in the mistakes thread but have only just discovered that roam.com.au charges $1.50 per manual payment on top of the CC surcharge when automatic topup has been selected.
Had been using roam as a way of clearing small balances on visa/mc giftcards recently. Rather profligately as it turns out

Ouch. How many manual payment did you make?

I run my through the self serve at Coles or Woolies.

Used 5 cards with amounts ranging from $0.01 to $2.63 todat at Woolies to pay for my purchase.

It's not much effort because there's no need to enter a PIN with such a small transaction.

About a dozen so not a big deal in the scheme of things. Do try to maximise my point yield (for the game as much as the rewards) so the concept of earning 3-4 points/$ on roam was appealing.
ATO are likely to continue to take small value transactions
Appreciate that Dr Ralph's option is simple and require no surcharge arithmetic.
Shame about hcf instituting a $10 minimum as they were my go-to

Appreciate that Dr Ralph's option is simple and require no surcharge arithmetic.

The only effort I go to is to get each card down to under $10 and write that amount onthe back of the card. I take 3 or 4 each time to Woolies or coles and use them as part of a larger purchase.

I currently have around 20 cards with balances of under $10 so it will take a few trips to the supermarket to get rid of them.

But really it is a minimal effort.

Actually I used the Coles Prepaid Mastercards whilst recently in Bangkok and found that I got almost the same exchange rate (including the 3% currency conversion fee) that I could get from a money changer. So they get used up quite quickly - I did bring them all back to Australia though as its very hard to work out exactly how many Baht may be left on each card.

I recently tried to do a low value payment to the ATO but their minimum on the securepay site was $10.
