Gift Cards at Supermarkets

i wish there was a way to split payments when buying things online. I need to get some toner cartridges but it is over $100.

edit: is there a way to combine some cards to make a super coles mastercard gift card?

Just used one of mine to pay for dinner at a restaurant that doesn't take Amex. Got to keep track of remaining balance. I agree the small denominations are very fiddly - perfect for a low value "gift" for someone and laden with fees so Coles should make some money from issuance fee, merchant fee and breakage/expiry in the ordinary course of events. Guess they're not a charity :)
Might be more fee intensive but could buy a Coles MC GC online up to $1000 but don't think you can split your payment or might be worthwhile. Interested too in any ideas on how to consolidate these cards.

if only I had my own eftpos machine for my business then I could just put it through and pay the 1%

Might be interesting reading - especially the part about the complimentary merchant fee on your first $1000 worth of charges. Although bear unfunkable's wise words in mind depending on whether you use this method for a small amount of GCs to test out that it works as advertised. Too many might cause you to stick out like a sore thumb - maybe not all in the one sitting.
I can see myself using this to make it easier for people to pay me when I sell stuff on gumtree for instance.

IIRC standard clause about manufactured spend is in there as well. Essentially you can't use your own personal cards to pay yourself (unless it's for test purposes), but I don't know what they'd do with all and every payment coming from a prepaid MC from the same institution...

T&Cs normally say no. Have a look at the fine print.

Sure but in practice what happens? ie for AMEX connect offers it says the same but credits in practice

I suggest trying with something you plan to buy anyway. if it works, great, and don't brag or they will ban it :)

In my experience this used to work but Woolworths 'fixed' this sometime last year.

Need about 4 weeks bro :)
ahh, i thought that was an 'up to 4 weeks' thing and not an actual, 'it would take at least 4 weeks'. Just worried it doesn't come through for all, i ended up buying 8k in the end and would like to see $400 back

We all hope for FB dollar hahaha. Many members here bought a lot, including myself about $15k :D

I bought a few cards (not quite $15K worth) and when I spoke to Amex regarding something unrelated I was asked by a call centre operator if I was accumulating points for a specific reason based on my recent transactions :) (she only asked to upsell me a redemption through the Amex hotel program).

sometimes mistakes are made and you need to ring them up...or I believe you can do it on line too

Hadn't realised that you couldn't use Myer giftcards (e or plastic) online

I had bought some from AGL Rewards (currently at 10% discount) with my Coles Prepaids
