I am getting very close to Platinum status, just need a few more points to get over the line. My question is does anyone have sone great status run trips from Brisbane:confused::confused::confused:. I am relatively new to this forum and would appreciate any advice, I did note there is a document previously been available but have not managed to obtain it.

Thanks in advance, Brendon:D

Your best best is say what you need to get SCs wise, your home port, how much time you have (day trip, weekends only) and whether you prefer domestic versus international. Once we have that info you can get some ideas and costs.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have Two business class trips booked, bne-mlb-auk which leaves me needing around 120 points for platinum. I don't mind domestic or int to get these points but wanna do it as cheap as possible.home is BNE. thanks for your response.

BNE-NAN in Premium Economy earns 60 SC each way for $748.
Though you get better value if you fly from another Australian capital through BNE and pick up J class SCs for the domestic sector.

Don't get too excited about Platinum. I'd had it in the past and there's very little benefit over Gold.

Big on for us is oldest child is getting over the 12 mark so cannot take into lounge as child guest anymore and gold only gives one adult where platinum gives three. Cannot tell her or wife to sit out in the waiting area while we get or feed and drink on lol

i agree Markis there are good obvious perks, 4 free business upgrades per year for starters. And I'm so close so why not.

Apart from the extra points, Hilton Diamond, free upgrades......

Someone flying enough to make WP is likely to have so many points the statsu bonus won't make much different.

Hilton Diamond isnt that different to Hilton Gold.

With Flexi fares now as expensive as they are (with no more ability to purchase 2-4-1 with the CC offer), and with an assumed abundance of points it is often better value to just redeem an award flight (remembering comp upgrades and awards come from the same inventory).

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with WP, its just that after having been both, Im perfectly content with SG.

Depends, a public servant won't have many points at all, so at least they are getting the max on private journeys. Some of us ex Golden Wing members burn as we earn for some strange reason despite having elite status and earning almost daily. "Hilton Diamond not much different to Gold", have you been a member at both levels for a while, I have, big difference! And of course then there is the better seat preferences, and the free upgrades you seemed to have glossed over....

I will show the best I have got so far. Trip to Christchurch $563 direct prem economy or $565 through Melbourne.
So bne-Mel prem is 45 credits and you actually fly business, them Mel- Chc prem is 60 credits.

$565 for 105 status credits

Are you coming back?

I sent you a private message but you already have it covered.
Looks like your cheapest option is to redo the NZ trip!

Yeah thanks just got it, changes in a few months when they upgrade planes and have business class on trans Tasman flights

You can go Brisbane to Cairns return in Business for 120sc and about $900 if you can use the code BKL24.

If you need to do 2 x PE return SC runs that each nett 210 SC, I really dont think its "Near Platinum" . Regardless Platinum is worth the run if you are near the end of your qualifying year, and the next may not be travelling much ie, soft fall to gold next year. Other than that, I wouldnt bother, just family pool to your 12 year old

Each to their own but I tend to agree with you that VA Plat isn't really worth it. The free upgrades might appeal to some but I don't place that much value in them as I tend to only do short hops on VA and their J class isn't that exciting - row 3 Y will do for me.

And for seat selection, I have never not been able to jag row 3 as a Gold now on VA (probably more an issue for the WP's who are missing out and there is a whole thread dedicated to the VA seating system!!).

Hilton Gold and Diamond - I've been both, personally for me Gold is fine, always get upgraded, free breaky and wifi is all I really need.

Really depends on what you value but clearly the OP values WP on VA so they should go for it!
