General Medical issues thread

On the ABC they said Baby Shark and Achy Breaky Heart work too.
I will stick with the Bee Gees

Staying Alive seems like an apt choice and positive vibes. Another One Bites the Dust whilst a great song and right rhythm makes it seem like you don't want the person to make it, negative vibes.

IMO Baby Shark rhythm is all wrong and the less said about Billy Ray Cyrus the better.

New advice is 1-ring 000, 2-push ie compressions (staying alive or similar theme song) then 3-shock.
3 is not shock.

3 is actually apply the AED and follow its instructions - it may shock or it may not. If it does not shock it will say continue CPR.

......

Any song with a beat of 100-120/min qualifies.
My favourites are
" you got a friend in me"
"don't go breaking my heart"

Spotify has various CPR playlists

Thanks for that summary, I had no idea that AEDs are only secondary. I'm not trained in CPR but I'd give it a go as the last resort, 🎼 staying alive, staying alive.
I saved a fellow's life some years ago by giving CPR - he was a very interesting shade of blue. And yes I did it to the rythym of "Staying Alive' though I've since heard a doc saying that was a little slow. It would have been 35 years ago that my pal and I did a St Johns course; coincidentally she also saved a man's life one day at the footy at the MCG. I'd say we've got the value out of that course

MCG has some of the best outcomes in the world from out of hospital cardiac arrest. They can get trained people to the patient very quickly.. and well done.. I talk about CPR with everyone I know - even if you watch the video and do the basics its better than nothing.
