I’m so fickle. I had the oldies flu shot last week. No reaction. Husband had both flu and Covid. Quite unwell. And felt like he did (and I ) in Hawaii.

So my research suggests based on sample size of two that 1. We had Covid in Hawaii and not flu and 2. There are side effects for him anyway to the Covid shot.

In the interests of scientific research I lined up just now at the pharmac_ for a Covid shot. I’d decided earlier I wasn’t going to have another but this had become an experiment.

Oh. We don’t do Covid shots on Wednesday. Right. That’s all I needed. No Covid shot for me.

When we likely got Covid in Hawaii we’d had both flu and Covid shots four months prior. And if it was Covid we got it bad. So jury out.

IIRC @Pushka or certainly another AFF poster had RSV at some stage and very unwell?
With trips coming up June, July/August and September, even though I don't fit the 75+ criteria, thinking this is one jab worth having considering how crook it has made some.
Thoughts anyone?

Awful, one night I was so sick from coughing and coughing, the pain in my chest and stabbing pains, I thought I was having a heart attack.

I said to my husband, please tell my kids and grandkids I love them

Should get my flu jab soon - but was recommended to wait because currently battling a very bad cold at the moment which involves antibiotics for the throat infection

Maybe just go to another pharmac_ for the Covid jab? Most here in Sydney seem to offer them and most seem to also have online bookings.

Ive personally found Saturdays to be easiest day to get an appointment, I've already made mine for mid May both flu & covid on the same day so that they both kick in for the start of June.

For me - I prefer to go to my GP as they know my files more than my pharmac_ - luckily mine is easy to book for that...

We both had our flu vaccinations at the chemist this morning. The Pharmacist who gave it to us said that she had noticed a stronger reaction to it this year when she received her dose. She also said a number of people told her that they had also had a stronger reaction than last year. I have read that the formulation has reverted to a Trivalent dose from a Quadrivalent vaccine as one of the variants covered was no longer in circulation so this may be having some effect.

Update on my hand/finger surgery 10 days ago.
Bit of a hiccup at 36 hours when hand became very red, painful and swollen. No relief with elevation /ice. Call in to the surgeon, come in the morning.
Three hour round trip to have his nurse redo the bandage and relieve me of the bolster/back slab.
Had indicated to the Discharge Nurse (who didn't know how to do a sling) that it was too tight.......
Remain on antibiotics for an extra 3 days.

Back there yesterday, wounds "looking good" (man of few words).
Sutures out from donor site next week, graft sutures will dissolve. Dressing is less coughbersome. Allowed to move my fingers but minimise movement of middle finger.
Roll on next Wednesday

Thanks for alerting us to that new update - hopefully it only affects a few people compared to the general population, and hopefully its only on 1 brand instead of all brands - as there are multiple brands and also for different age groups

I did persuade the surgeon to let me use the tip of my right finger if I had to, but otherwise left handed everything @DejaBrew Takes forever to type!

And, the saint, Mr Flyfrequently has learned a few new skills and is adept at doing my hair now

My GP was happy for me to get it despite being at the tail end of a cold.

My GP has recommended it but had said wait a bit because she thought it may be free for over 70s soon but I think they are just going to leave it for over 75's
