Well it seems my sister's cyst is back, feeling wobbly, dizzy, so another CT scan. Back to the neurologist, apparently a very small number of people get this.....

Also, I was wrong when I said her cancer was ovarian, it was uterine cancer, the sort, I don't know, but it was very aggressive.

sigh......

Another scan and visit to the surgeon, apparently it is an arachnoid cyst, so new hole in skull, sigh.
Any medicos on here dealt with these sort of issues before?

Easy to fix - neurosurgeons fenestrate it - put a hole in it and let it drain naturally. or Shunt it - put a tube in it and direct the tube into the abdominal cavity

The majority never cause symptoms and are left alone. However, if causing symptoms (and the ones you report are plausible) as per @Quickstatus. Sometimes surgery can be done in a minimally invasive manner

Extremely intimidating when wheeled into the ablation theatre. Incredible number of very complex looking machines and a huge big screen right next to the bed and I don’t think it was for NetFlix.

A prep complete shave down, if you know what I mean, was a bit of a surprise .

Surgeon happy with the result ( a new car? )

When you return your room, you have to lie on your back and still for four hours to allow the incisions to clot and help heal.

Dinner came after about 1.5 hours and of course I can’t sit up. . So still fasting since last night but don’t feel any urge to eat. Orderly just came by and when I explained the situation she said okay I’ll take it away again. Nooooo!

I told friends not to come by and my sister’s a bit old to come the distance she would need to, so I’m just hanging around here. There is a young (20s) bloke in the next bed who had an investigation procedure not an ablation. His mum brought him pizza .

And annoying to hear all the nurses fuss over him

Now I can tell you (did not think it wise before your procedure) when MrLtL had his ablation (they tried that first before the ICD), he was awake and heard the cardiologist instructing the offsider on the amount of 'zap' but the last thing he remembers before coming to in the recovery room was the cardiologist saying loudly 'More sedation, more sedation' - apparently he went into cardiac arrest.

I understand that if the patient is an A and in the first atrium, it’s keep you awake but if it’s a B or C and in second atrium where they have to penetrate the septum between the two atria, it’s sweet dreams (well, absolutely nothing at all ).

Had cardiologist appointment yesterday and they are happy with the ICD at present so no further treatment needed at the moment though it is pacing at almost 100% in atrium and 80% in ventricle. It is keeping the tachycardia at bay at present. He is part of a trial for the leads as TGA needs to have patient data before registration.

Not quite up and running this morning (well, OK, that never happens), but seemingly OK. No discomfort around the heart (inflammation was possible) but a ripper of a bruise around the femoral vein incision/insertions point, as expected. Apparently 4 or so small needle holes, not one big one. Driving prohibition according to the discharge screed was 2 weeks, but surgeon yesterday said 'guidance had changed' and now its 2-3 days.

It takes a couple of months to see if the afib has cleared up enough to declare a win, but even if I had to have another, I'd say 'no worries'!

Gawd I love these videos! I had Laparoscopic surgery some years ago and while convalescing became quite obsessed with watching full surgeries on YouTube. It still blows my mind that we have colour videos of the insides of our bodies.

Excellent. I found the photos from my laparoscopic hernia repair back in 2005. There's a benefit in clearing out boxes at the folks place!
