If you don’t improve, may be an idea to get blood tests to determine that.

The system works a bit different over here I find, the NHS is very quick to deal with things under 'primary care' i.e. won't refer things for any further investigation with the aim it's all just dealt with at the GP level; it can be rather frustrating at times. Trying not to let anger get the best of me right now and enjoy the holiday ........

I wonder under TI whether you could go to a private doctor, assuming you have time in the particular place, and suggest blood test maybe in order, 12 hours should be sufficient.

As I posted earlier, my putting off was justified - it was exactly what I thought it was, viral, so nothing a Dr can say or do. But if people want to keep having a go at me then that's fine, I'm big enough and ugly enough to take it.

Things are often dismissed as viral these days but if that doesn’t seem right then persist. It’s also really strange they didn’t order tests having come back from a pretty much undeveloped country and had been in hospital exposed to further issues. My son came back from Bali with a hacking cough after a week and he was sent to the specialty labs and met with staff in haz dress.

Not having a go at you but coming back from a place like Nepal puts a very different marker on things. And your wife recovered quickly.

Measles is a just virus too but look at what that can do. HIV is just a virus. (Not saying you have either of course but ‘just a virus’ doesn’t mean all that much.)

I came back pretty sick last year and wasn’t getting much better so I had a blood test and it showed a para influenza virus. I appreciated knowing that i’d probably be getting better pretty soon.

Even if it is "just" a virus, you've been pretty seriously ill. You need to take it easy or risk a post-viral syndrome like CFS/ME.

Bumped into a friend that I hadn't seen for a while, even MsC had wondered why she had been keeping low. Well 3 weeks of that cream will make people go undercover. This is her third time and doc says she will probably be doing it every two to three years for the rest of her life, groan. :(

I don't disagree and I was sure to mention it several times... however I was told it's just a coincidence and no way they're both related. There's only so much you can do .... it's not like I haven't tried. That's why I'm so frustrated. I've given up for now, just dont have the energy to fight it. What I have now is considered to be labyrinthitis aka vertigo. I feel mildly better today (I.e. my head doesn't feel quite so blocked up) but let's see how today goes.

Weather is unusually warm for here, so try to take advantage of it!

Currently Easter has been spent with one spouse with the flu. He thought it was just the cold but that error soon became obvious with all the aches, fevers and chills. So far I’ve avoided getting it, but then I don’t seem to get the flu. I do get a bad cold about every three years or so. Haven’t had a flu shot yet either. We are currently on the fifth day and hoping for an improvement.

Saw a different GP last week, as I've had intermittent ear pain since January, maybe longer. (Our GP retired last year; he'd been my GP for around 30 years; his clinic was merged into one of the Smart Clinics, so I went to the Smart Clinic closer to home as at least my records should be centralised - hence "a different GP").

She could see nothing wrong with my ears, a bit recessed, but that was all. A course of amoxicillin in case (so off the dermatologist antibiotics for a few days).

She suggested my ear pain was due to my allergies, and then recommended some powders from Metagenics - an allergy one and a gut healing one (the latter to help with my rosacea, as it helped hers apparently). I'm intrigued to see if there'll be any results of trying these powders. I've finished the antibiotics, and they've not made a jot of difference, so even though the pain feels like a middle ear infection, I guess it's not. Have always responded well to amoxicillin in the past.

Soo ... I'll see what these powders do. I'm not sure how I should be measuring their efficacy. I guess ear pain gone and rosacea cleared up?? :p

Just started on Farxiga to get my blood sugar back to a 5 number from a 6 number. My cardiologist wants me on it to keep diabetes 2 under control. I still do about 8 hours of exercise a week and my weight has been dropping so my doctor was pleased with my progress. I wanted to have a couple of weeks at home to watch out for side effects prior to travelling in the US.
