General Medical issues thread

MrLtL is presently at week 3 of Aldara which is another kind of cream to treat skin cancers. He had one excised from his forehead but the doctor felt the margins were a bit tight. After nearly 3 weeks it's quite red and blistered looking. Certainly doesn't look very attractive. It also seems to be a bit itchy and weeping a little but certainly not the run of possible side affects for your medication listed by marki . He will be pleased when the 6 weeks are up though.

I've used Aldara previously on my nose, mind you I had to get it in by the container load to cover my schnoz!

The specialist did say that the chances of a nasty cancer appearing was in the region of 1 in 20,000, if I remember correctly. My immediate thought was that it sounded better than my chances of winning lotto! :)

Did it go red and inflamed looking on Aldara? Is the new one stronger?

Visit to cardiologist went well. He think olives/olive oil have proven health benefit versus fish oil which has not done so well in health trial analysis. The LoDoCo drug trial may end later on this year and then the results will be published some time after that.
I should be ok with my unwritten warranty for at least another year or two following a good ECG. He wants me to continue with my exercise regime and weight loss.

Stop wondering and please see a doctor. Quick visit, maybe a prescription and you'll start feeling better sooner (sending non creepy hugs)

But, but, but....! Good Friday so no GP's open, doesn't seem to be much in the way of A&E around here either and I'm sure I'd be told to just suck it up princess anyway.

In fact we're staying in Ullapool tonight which is the largest 'city' in this area, so might have a better chance. Will ask our B&B host when we get there. Maybe the fresh Scottish sea air today will help!

Please don't be offended, but your continued putting-off getting to medical care is starting to frustrate me. It may be nothing, but how would you know if you don't get checked out? PLEASE make a greater effort to get care.
I can relate (even though I’ve also suggested visiting a dr) as I almost always put off going and whatever it was resolves in the end. I had to have a medical form completed before our Antarctic trip last year and the dr sniffed a bit and said that it had been 15 months since I’d been to the practice.

Aldara wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. This new one though, from all firsthand reports it is one where you stay inside and away from everyone else for about 3 weeks. Even the Doctor said he woulldn't be able to work if he had to use this cream, so I'll have to fit it in whilst not traveling, that will be the hard bit! :).

Doesn't sound wonderful at all. You'll go stir crazy. ;)
Where are they targeting? :(

It's all my Mothers fault, she was a redhead.

As was my mom.
As a youngster I had a blonde mane and was constantly burned black from the sun.
I does my GP's head in as I have had only a couple of BCC's on my legs.
Otoh… fingers are crossed….

So just spoke with a Dr .... as I suspected it's viral, nothing that can be done and hey ho. Just need to see it through. This is why I saw no use in seeking one out ...
