Despite the price of fast DC charging being closer to petrol
I just add up all the cost of charging (whether at home or supercharging) to arrive at an annual cost to charge per 100km

....

I went to get a non mandatory inspection check for the Tesla at the 3.5 year mark (63,000km)
Cost me $267 less a service department $60 uber credit to use on anything while the car is in service plus they charged the car for free.

That was the first shop service since new
Also since new
Replaced wiper blades x1
Have not replaced HEPA or cabin filters - not needed
Wheel alignment x1
Wheel rotation x1
4 tyre replacement x1

I'm estimating the brake pads at 250,000km.

Fast as in DC - almost none.
Fast as in, more than a regular 10A plug - id guess under 50%.
Some will use a dedicated AC wall charger, others a 32A point.

Really depends how much you drive, so how much you need to recover each day, and any cheap electrical plans or hours of solar.

Remember a normal 10A plug can add 2.3kWh of energy per hour (most electric car batteries are 50-80kWh) - or the equivalent of 12-15km or range per hour.

So plug in at 8pm for 12hrs and you add about 150km of range. For most people day to day that's plenty... And even if you arrive home with say 0, within two nights you are probably back to a normal charge level (not it's not recommended to regularly leave electric cars at 100%, though LFP cars need to go to 100% somewhat regularly)
 
Would be interesting to know what % of EV owners have fast chargers installed at home?

I have 2x15A single phase circuits in the triple garage - on different phases

EV One 63,000 km in 3 years
15A charger single phase.

EV two 24,000km in one year
15A single phase

The third car park has a 3phase charger 22kW capable which was put before EVOne but is not used much and was a waste of $$$ but I suppose an option for the rare case where we need a fast top up.

We have Free 3 hours 1100-1400hrs and 8c/kWh 0000-0600 and exporting a lot of solar outside of the Free 3 period except for winter. The free 3 period will cover all the daily driving. .

Exactly what a restaurant did 2 weekends ago when there was a blackout in NW Sydney.

3kW was available via his car
But we loaned him our 2400VA gennie as well
He managed to keep all the fridges and freezers going.
He also packed the freezers and fridges with ice bags from the servo.

Could not keep the restaurant running because the load was too much.

So the restaurant closed but a lot of the food was saved.
 
Our next door neighbour is in solar business - AOPIT 3yrs ago Tesla ran a battery promo where they would throw in a 7kw charger for free. A lot who took up the offer just refused battery as were not required or they considered installation cost too expensive.

I bought 3 of them for $400 cash each - 1 at home / 1 at work / 1 at my #1 staff member hose. We have 2 EVs at home as does he - both have cells on roof and batteries - on AGL plan $0.08 / kWh 12:00-06:00 - work has cells on roof and we create more power than we use 6mths your so charging at basically zero $ - the economics overwhelming
