Interesting article on Macrumors - a US senator has also asked the FAA to review use of PEDs on board during take off and landing. She suggests that if the FAA moves too slowly she will initiate legislative processes to force them.

If this was enacted then I reckon it would last until the first major disaster where people are killed because they weren't able to hear evacuation messages and didn't know there was an emergency under way.

And of course there would be lots of extra detritus flying about the cabin which would cause injuries and possible even death.

I reckon the senator should focus on fixing the absolute mess that is the TSA and their otiose "security" regulations including LAGS.
