ive just had a hip replacement and want to fly to hong kong direct as soon as possible to lie by the pool and exercise in warm water. Last time i went to jakarta on garuda business class and it was very satisfactory but this time i want to fly to hong kong as soon as surgeon signs off on it. I really need to feel confident that if i book on cathay from sydney i will get full flat bed. flex business only costs 100 bucks to change date and i can wear that sort of contretemps should there be some awful schedule change which no one could predict. so are all flights from sydney full flat bed usually?

SYD-HKG with CX is operated by "77W" and "333" so a flat bed is as close to 100% as it can be (barring last minute major aircraft/schedule disruptions).

How recent was your surgery and have you discussed with your surgeon regarding DVT prophylaxis for your travel?

oh only 2 weeks ago. i havent discussed it yet with him, this time, altho we discussed it in depth last time. not sure if he will think the flight is too long...jkt was only 5 and a bit hours. i notice online that UK have actually established formal guidelines since my other hip was done in 2014. if this is becoming a norm, then the matter is gonna be simple because i simply wouldnt be able to get insurance coverage. covermore seems to have a 6 week rule with a medical cert and a 90 day rule without. i will talk to gp about it on monday when i go for check up. i dont see specialist till 6 weeks has elapsed

Yes. Unless Cathay has a major fleet issue, it is guaranteed you will get a Flatbed. Equipment changes between A350/777/A330 are all Flat Bed. I have not been on the 359 but the only difference between 77W and 333 is the 77W has more storage and has more space around you and slightly more width at your shoulders. But for a 10hr flight, both are equally as comfortable.

Yes. Will be full flat.
They have 4 flights a day too so in the extremely unlikely event (i mean it is close to impossible now), just get off the plane and say I want to take the next one.
