With this offer they way you are getting QFF silver benefits is through their OW partnership i.e. AB Silver gives you OW ruby. As far as I'm aware the QF status bonus only applies to QFF Silver and not OW ruby. So if you are already flying F I don't think you would get any further benefit out of OW ruby status.

thank you!

After reading up about OW Ruby benefits a bit more. I have a question:

As Ruby status benefits from selecting seats on international flights at no charge how can now select my seat for free on a flight I booked a few weeks for next year which is already linked to my QFF number?

OK, so just registered, didn't need to worry about German as I simply clicked English, top RH Crnr....;) So let's see what they do ... interesting link thanks

Awesome find. Have completed the rego process (got the green box). So now wait the QFF upgrade - I'm a humble bronzer at the moment. Thank you, Mattg.

I'm not sure if its been mentioned elsewhere, but AB are also doing full status matches to gold from competing non-OW airlines. Catch is you need to reside in the US or parts of Europe. If you have someone you know there, this works as MrsDaver6 was matched to AB Gold from Alitialia. She has a cousin in Germany. Process was painless.

Hey team,

I'm travelling to the Maldives on Saturday with flights on both Etihad and VA. Currently have the VA number down to get the mass amount of status credits as we are going via Abu Dhabi.
Have a 10 hour layover in AUH on the return leg, wondering if getting this promotion will make me eligible to access the Al Reem lounge and others free of charge rather than having to pay to enter.

does anyone have some thoughts on this?
Thanks

If you are talking about the AB Silver offer unfortunately this only gets you OW ruby status which does not include lounge access.

Also it appears from a quick search that the Al Reem lounge allows acces Priority Pass, Airport Angel and certain credit card holders so not sure if it has airline partnerships (but I'm not familiar with it so happy for someone to correct me).

Exactly what it says - if you're flighting Etihad or airberlin through Abu Dhabi, you can use the Al Reem Lounge there. Nothing more.

I like the sound of that. Am assuming will just have to show email saying 'you are now silver' and also a printed version of the card...

My apologies I wasn't aware of this arrangement between AB and Al Reem, I was looking at it as a OW ruby membership. It says it there in black and white topbonus silver gets access to Al Reem. That's a good deal, definitely worth signing up for that.

unreal. now the thing will be showing that I am in fact a silver member... has everyone been sent an email confirming silver status? I'll take a print out of the classic card and maybe also the english translation screenshot of it saying 'you have registered for silver' but not sure if they also send an email to use as they don't appear to send out a silver card as one member noted..

You'll get an email but it will be in German. Probably best to also print a (English) screenshot of your status as shown on the Air Berlin website, ensuring the expiry date is visible.

FWIW it took a few days before I heard back from them, so don't expect anything immediately.

Okay, hoping it comes through while in Maldives perhaps and then i can print there at the resort and have it ready for the return leg!

EDIT: Account still says my status is "classic", so maybe ill check again tomorrow hoping that it changes to "Silver"

Thanks for confirming this. Just signed up and it says "use the email activation" and I keep clicking 'resend my email activation' but I get nothing. So I'll wait a couple of days.

Also to confirm - it seems on Qantas, the only real benefit is that you can check in under the "Business/priority" lane and that's about it? However you do not receive any Qantas Silver Status perks such as more points/SC when flying. Is that correct?

Thanks for the tip OP. have signed up as will be flying MH (KUL-LHR-KUL), and BA (LHR-ATH) in January...
