Quite possibly in the wrong forum board, but I received today, an email from TID telling me that I can go in the draw for a trip for 2 to Cambodia.

TID will enter you into a trip for 2 to Cambodia competition......and match any donation you give to the Fred Hollows Foundation on a dollar for dollar basis, when you take out a TID policy.

I wouldn't normally entertain these emails except I believe Fred Hollows was such an extraordinary man who did so much for so many that it's worth making mention. Now that I too live and work in a third world country (for at least part of my time), I have gleaned such an understanding of how such simple things as optometry and dentistry can enrich peoples lives so dramatically, that I do think it's worth at least bringing to your attention.

Usual disclaimer.....I have no association with TID or the Fred Hollows Foundation (except I do have a TID insurance policy).

T&Cs....
The promotion is open to all Australian residents, over the age of 18 who donate to The Fred Hollows Foundation when they purchase a Travel Insurance Direct travel insurance policy during the promotional period from 16 June - 31 July 2015 AEST. Prize winners must be available to travel from 1 September -15 December 2015. Full terms and conditions apply.

Cheers for the heads up swanning_it, need TI soon so will check it out. Oh, and I think Queensland is a state, not a country. :p

Thanks tuapekestar. I did a quick quote for 4 weeks in the U.S, and it came up as around $250 or so. Didn't notice a PDS, but it was a quick look see though. Is TID well thought of?

If your US trip is for 4 weeks, perhaps you may also like to get a quote for an annual multi trip policy. TID are commonly regarded as one of the better travel insurance crowds in my estimation. If you do a search here on AFF, you'll find quite a few discussions on the topic.

Should have thanked you swanning_it for the original post. I thought $250 seemed a good prive, but will investigate further. And, I haven't been to Cambodia and Fred Hollows is an excellent charity. ;)
