Flight to Singapore is now a little over a week away.

I am now seriously looking at next year. I am overwhelmingly attracted to a September trip taking in Spa and Monza. I reckon it would be awesome to finish watching Spa, then get in a cool hired car (911, M3, something else?) and drive to Stuttgart to look at the museums then on to Monza via Switzerland. I can't imagine much better.

Any thoughts, encouragement or discouragement? Any recommendations? Has anyone had experience hiring a car like that?

do it / do it/

we had it semi-organized to do this this year, but work commitments interfered.

had to sit and watch each race go by and just think "we should of been there".

we have friends in Northern France and in Lugano Switerland, so sort of close to both tracks and still couldn't get it together.............
next year maybe..............
if F1 is your thing then you have to do it. nothing better.
(am in the midst of looking into Abu Dhabi now too...............and then 3 races in april/may 2012 in Europe too)

my oldest daughter said " why don't we got blah blah blah for a holiday" ..................and i said " why is there a race there"

Thanks for the encouragement KLN.

You just need to write to Bernie and convince him to put a race everywhere your family would like to go.

Do you travel with your kids? I can get away with going without them to Singapore essentially for a long weekend. But if I go to Spa and Monza, I will either need to take them with me, or leave them somewhere fun in Europe. We have relatives in the UK, so it is doable.

we originally started going by ourselves as the kids were smaller. the 18yo refuses to have anything to do the car racing so that's good, she stays home and minds the house, dog, and the office work for our business.
the 15yo is addicted like us, so she now comes. Abu Dhabi is at the end of her exams this year, so that works out ok, but as she goes into Y11 next year, she maybe curbed a little for the next 2 years.
if your kids are little, i wouldn't take them. if you want to be at a track all day, little ones would be painful i think. depending on ages. i would leave them somewhere else personally, and you don't want them to become addicted to F1 too early as it will just cost you more money to go. i found that out the hard way. we've gone from 1 hotel room to 2 now, and 15yo are adults as far as seats go too. have fun in Singapore. this is the first time we've missed it in 2 years, and 15yo not coping at all as we have quite a few friends going too. enjoy!

I'm on the red eye SQ246 out of BNE on Thursday night. Arriving in SIN at sparrows on Friday morning. Going to try out my status match on Virgin for the positioning flight from Sydney and lounge access

Did Singapore in 2008, sat in the Bay grandstand which was good for the atomsphere not so for the racing cause you couldn't see anything, but was great being there, my mates did 2009 and sat at Padang and said was much better spot than in 2008.

Have been to KL the past three years, certainly KL is better with the circuit the way it is, Friday is free and you can sit almost anywhere on the circuit that day, only problem is the circuit is an hour way and traffic on Sunday can be terrible, this year some people we got chatting to at the hotel were waiting up to four hours to get back to the city so be prepare especially with the family.

Korea is about three hours away from Seoul by the KTX train was planning to do that last year but after talking with a guy who worked on the merchdaise tent for Red Bull in KL this year i think i'm glad we didn't he said it was the worst GP he had been to, everything was rushed and not finished and there's no hotels down there, most of the time they had to get there from Seoul or from Busan. Looked at India this year but with tickets not going on sale till a few weeks ago i didn't want to take the risk and found it not finished like Korea.

Me and some mates are looking at the Spa-Monza double next year, should be sweet especially the racing there this year.

Hope you enjoy Singapore and let us know who you got on.

David.

I will be at the Singapore GP this year as well. Was planning on doing Canada and the US back to back, but Bernies gone and changed the US GP to November instead of its usual May/June spot right after or before Canada.

Not sure what my GP attending plans for 2012 will be. Aus GP will probably be on the list due to my foreign friend wanting to go.

For those going to the Singapore GP, there's a couple of competitions on the Singapore GP website. One is a grandstand seat upgrade for premier walkabout, zone 3 & 4 ticketholders or for zone 1 ticketholders, a chance to win a grid pass and entry the the paddock club. Three RBR garage visits up for grabs as well.

The other comp is to win tixs to the drivers autograph session on Thu.

Good luck.

Meeeeeeoooooooowwwww - on my way - in the BNE SQ lounge for the red eye and just verified that the DJ platinum status match does indeed allow you in without showing any SQ plastic

Sitting at gate 9 at Melbourne. Waiting for sq218 to Singapore! Getting excited!!

Turn 1 grandstand - beer on me if you can get there. Have fun and remember to hydrate (with beer)

I'm in the turn 1 stand too. How will I recognise you? I will be sitting in A4, Row 4, seat 13. I'll be wearing a plain black cap - not that that is likely to stand out.

Cheers
Adam
