Hi, for ONLY WHO HAD SUCCESSFUL EXPERIENCE IN THIS FLIGHT, please I need an advice

My family and I are flying Doha–Melbourne (transit)–Adelaide with Qatar Airways QR0988. I’ll have two checked bags under my name, but my family will only have carry-on bags. Can they exit (skiplagging) in Melbourne (AU citizen), or do they have to continue and exit in Adelaide? However, I will continue traveling to Adelaide. Noting that we are all on one ticket and this ticket has been booked via Velocity rewards points
If they can exit in Melbourne, will this cause any issues for them or affect my Velocity reward points with Virgin?

Did it 2 weeks ago with my son. We had a DOH-ADL ticket in J booked on QR Avios. Told staff on arrival in MEL that we wanted to exit in MEL and that we’re hand-luggage only.

‘No problems, thanks for letting me know, have a great night’ was the response.

Edit: I should elaborate further. Prior to disembarkation, there will be an announcement made onboard to pax continuing to ADL to see an agent at the end of the jetbridge. These pax will be eventually be escorted airside.

The agent has a clipboard of all names of pax continuing to ADL. He/she can cross your name off should you choose to not to continue to ADL.
