Hi everyone.

Since I last posted regarding my personal holiday travels, I have been doing a fair bit of travel for work. (I'm booked my first status run over Anzac Day weekend to make silver, only to have a late job come in that would have got me over the line anyway. Oh well!) One job requires me to do CBR-SYD and back on the same day, which is fine. However, we are heading into the dreaded fog season.

I heard once that the first jet flights of the day out of CBR to SYD, MEL etc are all here overnight and therefore are unlikely to experience fog-related delays. Later flights rely on inbound aircraft arriving, which creates fog difficulties.

Is there any truth to this? What's the best strategy to minimise fog delays if you cannot fly the night before? If I have to be in Sydney for 10 am, should I stick with the first 737 flight of the day if there is any chance of fog?
