hi guys, how are you all going? my first time flying on air nz from melbourne to lax via auckland on thursday, just wondering is it 2 pieces or 1 piece of checked baggage for ecomony??

:)

It on their website, [travelling, international, baggage] so look there, also on your booking documents. Y is
International travel (tickets purchased from 26 May 10):-|Economy1 piece, max weight 23kg (50 lbs)

(tickets purchased before 26 May 10):pEconomy2 pieces, max combined weight 46kg (100 lbs)

So it depends on when you purchased your ticket, refer to that.

When you travel from MEL and if you have brought your ticket pre 26/05 then you shouldn't have any issues about the two bag rule to the US. Normal is one bag accross the ditch

It depends on when you purchased your tickets. NZ changed their baggage allowances for tickets purchased after 26th May 2010.

If purchased before 26/05/2010, economy class to USA you get max of 2 bags for a max combined weight of 46kg.

If purchased after 26/05/2010, economy class is one piece to a maximum of 23kg. The only exception for this new allowance for international flight is for travel originating in Tahiti.

See here for details: Checked in Baggage - Baggage - Travelling - Air New Zealand - New Zealand Site
