Hi all,

Not too sure if this is the right place to post this but ill try it anyway. My partner and I would like to fly to canada in december/january for a white christmas and a bit of skiing/sightseeing. We would like to travel PE(or at least economy exit row). Our travel dates are fly out around the 20th of december and fly back around the 3rd of january. We are both QF and by then will both be Velocity Silver, any suggestions on airlines to fly with? I dont mind having to do a stopover.

Cheers

QF what (bronze, silver, gold, platinum)?

Are you interested in earning points or status credits in any particular loyalty program or just looking for the highest class at the most reasonable price?

Do those levels (whatever you are in QF) or Velocity afford you any real travel benefits?

Do you have any miles or points in any programs to go for an award redemption or are you happy to pay cash?

Just it maybe cheaper to go business class on an award redemption (for whcih you will earn no points/miles or SCs) but you might enjoy that more... You just missed a good deal to get some cheap miles in the AA program but that finished yesterday...

Direct flights to YVR (Vancouver) are rather expensive at that time of year from experience. I ship my mother off occasionally to visit the family and the price almost doubles at that time of year. That said, you asked about QF affiliates I suppose and that would involved either flying to LAX with QF or possibly to HNL and going from there on a cheapie if there is one. I found it tricky to get points flights from LAX to YVR at any time but those with a couple of stops are more likely. Think it was LAX-SFO then SFO-SEA then SEA-YVR.

Sorry I don't think I'm helping here... will knock off for the week...

Sorry QF silver as well. We are interested in the highest class at the most reasonable price. I dont think that we get many benifits with qf or velocity apart from extra luggage maybe? At the moment we dont have many points so it will most likely be cash. Unfortunately seen that AA miles thing a little too late as i would have gone the whole lot.
