I understand flying QF6 or QF34 from Perth to Sydney departs from the international section of the terminal, but domestic travellers are generally waived through with stickers on their boarding pass.

If I am connecting internationally in Sydney, can I clear customs in Perth and transit as an international passenger? Or am I required to exit Sydney Airport as a domestic passenger, then clear customs in Sydney?

No reason why you cannot check in as an international pax in Per and just do the transfer at Sydney, just make sure you through check any luggage.
