Im thinking of taking my Bugaboo Cameleon stroller with me on my next trip from Australia to Ireland, just wondering if anyone has travelled with this type of stroller and what your experiences have been.

My route is BNE-SING-Dubai-LHR-DUB

I want to take the stroller to the gate but just wondering if i will be allowed as it doesnt exactly fold nice and compact like a 'regular' stroller but is more bulky and detatches in two parts.

Do you think it would get damaged on so many flights and that i should just buy one that isnt as bulky (or expensive, i would hate for it to get damaged)

I really dont want to check it in with my luggage as i will need a stroller around the airports to carry everything as well as my 22 month old.

Thanks

Whilst travelling in the US in 2006 I watched a gentleman totally dismantle their child’s Bugaboo (was stuck waiting at the gate and had no other entertainment). Not sure if it was a Bugaboo Cameleon but everything folded down into a Bugaboo bag with a very similar size to a boogie board carry bag.

Not sure if this is an option for you or not.

The Chameleon travel bag is about the size of a body board - I would be surprised if it was acceptable to be taken on board and would epect it to have to be checked luggage.

We are really struggling with what to do with the Boo on our trip - one reason for taking it with us is to show it to the Great Grandmother who actually helped pay for it. Also with the foot muff and stuff it will be warmer for the little feller in a UK winter...

I say risk it and take it. :D

You spend all that money on it, you might as well use it. Make sure you have travel insurance / go the airline if it's damaged in any way. Not ideal, but should end up with repair/replace if they damage it - make sure you have a good look at it to be sure immediately at collection.

Hi there Flying
either
1. risk it as docjames says but insure it
2. buy a second hand narrow folder eg mclaren that you don't mind trashing
3. travel with a "trunki"( www.trunki.net) and buy a cnn (cheap n'nasty) stroller at the other end . I think you can arrange to borrow a stroller at the stopover airports, I don't think they will let you get the bugaboo back once they put it underneath
Cheers Danger UXB
P.S. I hope you have paid for the seat even though they are just under 2!!
