S7 used to offer good fares using QF MEL/SYD-SIN-FRA-DME, but with the imminent demise of FRA services does anyone know if S7 will be offering any alternatives with QF/oneworld?

I put a friend on AY via HEL and they loved it. Try booking Australia-SIN/BKK/HKG separately and then AY from the Asian port to save a bit of money.

I agree about AY. The only thing is that AY fly into SVO not DME, but after experiencing DME, avoiding it might not be too bad, but that depends where you want to go is Moscow. I also agree, book AY from Asia and you'll probably save your Asia stopover accom! I like AY, it's never let me down for value!

CX would be my choice. But if you choose a dodgy Russian carrier and end up on a Tupolev, make sure your will is up to date :shock:

Not sure if it's any cheaper, but you can look at flying into and out of places in eastern Europe; I took the train from Moscow - Riga, had a few days, then into Warsaw. Very pleasant. From there grabbed a BA flight to LHR then QF home.

I flew into Moscow with BA from LHR and then out from Latvia via Copenhagen to LHR - Moscow is a fantastic city to visit and you must visit The Armory

It's getting harder and harder to find carriers flying Tupolevs these days. They're still around, but they aren't airlines too many westerners fly on.
