I am currently booking my first J circle Asia fare (SYD-NRT-HKG-SIN-SYD)

As an AA Plat member, would there be any benefit in me flying on AA metal from NRT-HKG rather than CX, i.e. chance of upgrade to F on AA etc

The CX 505 flight time works better for me however if the AA 5824 flight gives me some bonus then I might consider it?

any thoughts or experience would be greatly appreciated

I would take the most conveniant departure time. Travelling on AA, you could use miles or ( if you can obtain one ) and eVIP to upgrade to First on AA if you desire

AA don't fly their own metal NRT-HKG

I think you will find AA5824 is operated by JAL

I would take the most convenient flight schedule.

Can't use miles or eVip to upgrade AA codeshare on a Circle Asia flight. No A operated flights available on that fare.

I didn't study the flight info posted; the OP mentioned it was AA metal, but indeed if it is a codeshare, no upgrade options
