I really hope Qantas' Fly Flexible doesn't end!

At the moment, domestic bookings only have flexibility until the end of the month.

Has anyone tried changing a booking beyond 1 May? Has there been a fee?

Given the fee revenue that was likely generated from changes in the past, I can't see it being extended indefinitely, unless an airline chose to specifically differentiate itself on this basis.

I think Fly Flexible is puting some extra burden on the call center. I sort of hope that once this offer ends, the waiting time will go back to an acceptable standard.

30th April is only for domestic bookings. International you have until 30th June to book for travel up to 31 Dec.

Given no testing requirement for domestic anymore not likely you would need to cancel a trip becuase of covid, but if this is a concern suggest you either:
a. buy flexible ticket or
b. get travel insurance that covers covid ( a must for any inetrnational trip anyway).

One example where domestic travel is affected is close contacts having to isolate. It’s really not asking much for fee-free changes / cancellations to continue to be granted.

If the domestic booking is made by the end of April , it still has the fly flex conditions regardless of travel date .... any Domestic made from 1May .. it is the normal rules and change fees.

This is not correct (based on Qantas' website):

Australian domestic flights

Any Qantas operated flights within Australia:
  • booked between 21 May 2020 and 30 April 2022,
  • for travel between 12 June 2020 and 30 April 2022.
But... I see your point when you look at fare rules. But will Qantas phone staff apply it?

Also... doesn't help with award tickets.

Is any state still doing close contacts? In NSW its only household members, I live on my own so that doesnt worry me.

But if it worries you get domestic travel insurance or buy a flex ticket.

If you get covid you can always call, QF have the ability to waive change fees for compassionate reasons - they have been known to do this when there is a death or serious illness pre-covid. They wont want you on flight if positive, but the flex policy has been used alot simply for change of mind with no need to provide proof of inablity to travel, that cant go on indefinitely.

The risk is much higher for inetrnational travel where some countries still require pre-departure tests which i why internationsl is until end fo the year (and also why i made sure I have travel insurance with $20k of cacnellation coverage).

I am pretty confident it will be extended until at least June 30, and maybe beyond.

see the extended status thread update regarding folks with June 30th anniversaries as evidence - QF "understands" it is still a challenging travel environment.

Whereas JQ site is clear (and generous) - book by 30/4/22 for travel until 31/8/23

To ensure you can book with confidence, we’re introducing further flight flexibility for all domestic and international flights with Jetstar Airways (JQ) and Jetstar Asia (3K).
If you book a Jetstar Airways (JQ) flight through jetstar.com between 17 September 2021 and 30 April 2022 (extended from 28 February 2022), we’ll waive the change fee if you decide to change the date of your travel.
If you book a Jetstar Asia (3K) flight through jetstar.com between 7 March 2020 and 30 April 2022, we’ll waive the change fee if you decide to change the date of your travel.
When you’re ready to rebook, you’ll need to cover any Fare Difference in your new booking and please be sure you make the change before your flight opens for check-in at the airport.
This offer applies for travel until 31 August 2023 on any Jetstar Airways (JQ) or Jetstar Asia (3K) domestic or international flight.

Well I guess that's one state, for a start. I think all states do it in one form or another.

Taken out of context, you neglected the part where that is irrelevant to those of us lucky enough to live alone.

Take a little care and it is highly unlikely one will need to cancel a domestic trip due to covid, especially since no test required to fly domestically.

And if you are a nervous nelly, get insurance, simples.

.

No I didn't. The circumstances of an individual is irrelevant to the answer of the question you put :

Is any state still doing close contacts?

The circumstances of an individual is irrelevant to the answer of the question you put :

Nope, the only way to be a close contact is to live with a covid positive, therefore no way for anyone who lives solo to be a close contact, so entirely relevant.
