Wondering if anyone has ever had any luck with getting moved to an earlier flight on the day prior to the original departure using the Fly Ahead benefit?

I know that by rights it is meant to be same day travel, but wasn't sure whether they will bend the rules occassionally.

Cheers.

Same day is generally not a problem, as Virgin like to fill their planes when they can. I've turned up hours early on a Saver ticket and they happily moved me to the next flight out. I would think, depending on your fare class of course, changing the day would incur the appropriate re-ticketing penalties - but no harm in asking!

The Terms and Condition state (with some bolding by me):

12.1 In the event that a Gold or Platinum Member, who has been ticketed for a domestic Virgin Australia flight, arrives at the Virgin Australia lounge on the day of travel in time to be carried on an earlier Virgin Australia domestic flight with available seating in a fare class equal to or lower than the fare class originally purchased and to the same destination, you are entitled to make a request that you and an accompanying guest be carried on that earlier flight (Fly Ahead).

I would read that as suggesting that you have to request the FlyAhead on the date you were originally travelling.

It would depend on how their system is setup as to whether the lounge folk could even bend the rules.

whether the lounge folk could even bend the rules.

The Lounge Angels can bend the rules, and have for me twice. Although the second time I never received SCs or points and the booking has disappeared into the internet, not appearing in my 'Completed Travel' page or anywhere else I can find! A small price to pay to get home about 20hrs before scheduled...

So good luck and ask the question, the worst they can say is no!

Thanks for all the replys.
I actually made an error with my booking and have myself departing a day later than I should be.
Don't particularly want to pay all the change fees so guess I'll just take a chance and see how I go.
