Flights to SIN - VA codeshare much cheaper than SQ

I was helping the in-laws book some flights to Singapore yesterday, and was a bit surprised to find that the VA codeshare with Singapore Airlines is available and significantly cheaper than booking direct with SQ.

For our dates in May flying PER-SIN return:

• VA codeshare $771
• Same flights with SQ $911

Is it the same from other cities?

I can't even find the codeshare flight from PER to SIN

I couldn't find a way to book them on the Virgin site, the cheapest place seems to be zuji.
