I have a friend who wants to visit ORF in November. I have no knowledge of the US and connections but he's asked me if it would be easier flying:

  • BNE-LAX-DFW-ORF
  • BNE-SYD-ATL-ORF

One would be QF/AA and the other Delta/VA.

He's based in Brisbane and has no status/allegiances.

Can anyone provide some insight please :)

What class of travel ?
Norfolk, Virginia is not that far from Washington DC, Baltimore so ground transport from either is a possibility. Due to the spoke & hub USA system it can better to drive from a nearby airport (e.g. better connections, more freq flights).
Richmond, VA is closer. Has Delta flights ex ATL.
United Airlines is another option.

Norfolk International Airport - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Its a small airport by US standards
For the 12-month period ending December 31, 2006, the airport had 128,715 aircraft operations, an average of 352 per day: 44% scheduled commercial, 33% general aviation, 16% air taxi and 8% military.

Just economy and they're still learning to drive so unlikely to drive from another airport.

Good suggestion though. :)
