Hi All

I made some flight bookings last year when there was a DSC promotion on which I had to cancel due to Covid. These have been put into credit on my account but I'm looking to make some new bookings using the flight credits.

My question is would the original DSC still apply? I personally think that they would (and should) but would like to get some expert opinion. I've tried to find out via their website but no luck there at all.

Cheers

Brian

Historically (ie pre-COVID) if the PNR from the DSC voucher remained unchanged to the booking then the credit then the new booking AND the new booking flight was still within the eligibility period for DSC then typically the DSC was awarded. I have read no recent experiences on DSC credits, for obvious reasons, to know if this is still working and is still the case.

Best thing to do is to call Qantas and ask them to convert your booking to a Travel Pass with double status credits.

The Travel Pass takes about 2-3 weeks to be issued by email and locks you into Qantas (i.e. you waive your right to a refund). There is a cooling off period of 48 hours in case you change your mind and want a refund. The expiry date is quite generous. When you book your new flights, you must either pay for the entire flight using your pass or consume the full value of your pass to be eligible to receive the double status credits.

Note that you can opt into a Travel Pass whenever Qantas cancels a sector on a booking made directly with Qantas (I assume before you commence travel). So if, for example, Qantas has cancelled a flight and you no longer wish to travel, you can request a Travel Pass instead of accepting an alternative flight, or requesting a refund or voucher. Quite a good offer for both parties assuming you intend to fly before the expiry date.

Full T&Cs are available at Qantas TravelPass | Qantas

Good if you can get it but for some flight credits in some situations where Qantas did not cancel first I believe you won’t be entitled to Travel Pass.

Travel pass will not keep the DSC at all, the travel pass is equivalent to a prepaid Visa.

If it is a credit this will use the original 'booking' reference which will still be eligible for the DSC, but only certain dates, which from what i remember it wasn't for flights after February 2021.

Qantas may, at its discretion for reasons including but not limited to fraudulent use, cancel, modify or reissue your Qantas TravelPass, and cancel bonus Status Credits.
The fare conditions from your original flight booking no longer apply. Any remaining value on your Qantas TravelPass not used before the expiry date (31 December 2022) is non-refundable and will be forfeited (except in certain limited circumstances including under the Australian Consumer Law). Yes, but this has nothing to do with the original DSC promotion that was on at the start of the year and the OP.

Yes, the credits generated should retain DSC for the previous promo. I've seen someone receive them for a recent flight.

However as above if converted to a TravelPass that's a whole other situation but a credit retaining the original PNR should earn up till Feb 14 as per the past.

Geez, how time flies. I took up one of these Travel Passes and at the time opted for the double status offer. I received an email earlier in November showing the validity has now been extended to 12/2023.

How do I reassure myself that a double status offer is attached to the travel pass?

Be careful, I would ring Qantas first.

I also accepted a Travel Pass with DSC offer ~ 12 months back as a way of them keeping my money and me getting something out of it in return.
When I went to book over the phone recently, I got to the final stage and asked the lady to confirm DSC'c would be applied to the trip and she replied I cannot see anything here which gives you DSC's :oops::rolleyes:o_O I told them to shove it where the sun don't shine and give me a cash refund! Was not happy 🤬 Luckily I had already requalified for WP and was just wanting to boost my LTSC's.
