Flight award: SYD to CHC for 54000 QF FF poins, am sitting on 32000 right now

In the opinion of the rest of you, is using up 54000 points, in F on EK metal with QF flight #, (when I reach that-as mentioned am on 32000, and have 14400 to go by Jul 15, and then building it up and up) ... worth it?
Never been into the F lounge at SYDi, and the SYD to CHC flight leaves at 10.45am or 9.45am depending on time of year, DST etc.
At 54000, I would just have to pay taxes only, one way, and parameters that I can only do it one way, the return would be in discY and paid in cold hard cash.
I dont have time to use the 32000 as is now, or 54000 when I get to it, to go any further, as it would just be a long weekend jaunt.
OR points plus pay, to earn 120 QF SCs.
Sorry, not on the ball about MASA/JASA and terms like that, if mine are those.

I would have thought that going to AKL on the A380 would be better than CHC on the 777.

I'd agree at going to AKL on the 380 would be my choice to experience TT F on EK.

Not a lot if time in the QF F lounge at SYDi is the thing about getting SYD to AKL on the 380.
I can always pay for discY seat on the 380, but SYD to CHC gives mire tine in F lounge.

As an example, you can book:

Nov. 8 ADL-SYD in J
Nov. 9 SYD-AKL in F

for $133.96 + 54,000 points as a single award using multi-city.

Stay at the Rydges and then wander over at around 6AM or so and Flounge to your heart's content.

Not a great use of points in my opinion for a short flight - get someone to guest you into the F lounge on a JQ Price Beat to MEL!

If you want the first class experience the A380 would be much better - although I don't know if they let you use the onboard shower on short haul flights.
Breakfast in the F lounge is nice - but if you want a treatment in the day spa make sure you book in advance!

I guess 48,000 gets you SYD-LAX in Y, but yes I have considered doing this flight just to try F on EK... I think you can do BKK-HKG in EK F for only 36,000 QFP and about the same $50 or in taxes... Its a 3 hour flight where the TT route is closer to 4 hours....

I don't think you can get QF awards on EK using a QF flight number ie it will be sold as EKxx_ not QF8xx_x so you won't earn an points or SC as it will be classified as a Partner award.

That's assuming you were one of those who received the offer of points/SC on Classic awards.

I flew on a QF classic award 12 months ago, EK F from Auckland to SYD. Was fantastic, and the staff were only too happy to let me use the shower. And as I was the only one trying it, I had as long as I wanted. Was such a great experience.

I'd go for it, but if you are a drinker, consider doing Auckland - Syd so you get to drink more wine. Does mean you don't get the F lounge in SYD

But the SYD one has gotten me.
I want to try that outlook of the jutting out part of the SYDi F lounge.
Those of you who have been observant from the SYDi J lounge will know what I mean, and those of you who have been in the F lounge will know what I mean.
Have never flown the 380, so that one is the main factor, SYDi opens at 4.30am the website says, and EK opens 3 hours before their flight, so when I do stay at the Rydges, I can waltz across in the flood lit car park and be the first for the check in to the EK 380.
Now, slowly working my way up towards the 54000 is the aim.
Seeing that EK is the only one that has short F flights TT, and for which are cheapish... , well, looks like its the easiest.
Mind you, impossibility aside, winning Lotto is another thing to think of, on the backburner, dream on mate, eh!
And before you think me of shallow, aye. Just to go into that little "box", at an airport, for what reason?
