I have a flight booked with Vueling Airlines (A Spanish LCC) from Rome-Paris for 29 May. I am booked on flight VY9981 Dep at 10:40. However on having a look at their site yesterday this flight has disapeared from the booking engine and the schedule, it has also been removed from Amadeus. However when I login to the site to check my itinerary it still shows as confirmed exactly as booked. It would appear that they use the skylights system.

It certainly looks like the flight will not operate, I have sent an email to them about this, but does anyone know why the reservation would still show as confirmed? I am trying to be as sure as possible before I decide to book a new flight (probably with Air One via Turin as its appears to be the best option, I refuse to use Ryanair or Easyjet).

I admit it probably sounds silly asking if the flight really is cancelled but I figure someone out there might have access to more information than me.

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter,

Generally with most LCC's, when a flight is fully booked, it will drop from the reservation screen.

This may or may not be the case in this instance, but it might be something as simple as that.

Not sure about Amadeus, but I know the majority of LCC (Ryanair, Ezyjet etc) don't show up at all in Galileo.

Hope you have a positive outcome.

Well I received a reply from Vueling to advise that the flight is full! It would also appear that this flight is then full every day from early May to late June!

I am not 100% convinced as it seems strange that only that flight would be full yet the very late flight they have appears available for that entire period.

Maybe there is some website glitch, think I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and wait a few more days and see what happens.

Surprise Surprise

Now it appears that I have been automatically switched to the later flight, obviously the "full" flight no longer exists. I am requesting that my booking be cancelled and a full refund issued as the flight that I am now showing as booked on is some 11 hours later and arriving into CDG at 11:30pm and then having to get to the hotel is not at all appealing, and if the flight was delayed could end up costing more than the difference in flight prices in taxi fares.

Despite the inaccurate email advice from their Customer Service department they have been reasonably fast in replying and willing to help.

I have now received confirmation that my initial flight has been cancelled and they will refund the full amount paid to my visa within 30 days.

While I will not get to fly with them I have found their customer service very good with prmpt responses (within 48 hours).

At least I now know for sure and can arrange new flights.
