we are thinking of going to work in the Uk via LA and the states so may be interested in a one way ticket.

Is a one way ticket worth it or is a RTW going to be about the same and offer us the flexibility of coming home if we wanted to?

We have about 160000 points now so may be able to get at least one
one way flight to Aust from London if we need to later on.

Any suggestions to a FF novice welcome!!

A few things to watch out for.

1). One way tickets are very expensive. You may be able to get a cheaper fare on certain airlines (such as Air Nz) who offer one way fares at cheap prices.

2) Any RTW/Return ticket will most likely have a maximum validity of 12 months, so you would have to think about returning then if you wanted to use it.

3) You may be able to buy a return ticket and throw away the return portion, however this is technically against booking rules and the airline may come chasing you seeking a penalty fee. Whether they'd bother or not is another story...
