Hi all,

Does anyone know the reason that QF176 and QF26 are being delayed until the next day? (10am for 176) I got an sms at 2am this morning (LA time) telling me but Qantas aren't saying much more, nor much on what is goning to happen when we get to LAX tonight. Anyway got any ideas or any previous experiences as to what Qantas are going to do tonight?

Cheers

QF175 departed at 00:17 on the 1st Feb rather than at at 12:10 on the 31st and is expected 12 hours late into LAX which would explain the delay of QF176

QF26 does not seem to be delayed and seems to be scheduled to depart at 20:30

Dave

Thanks Dave,

I thought I saw that QF26 was leaving at 1pm the next day too (was checknig for a differnt route home) but could be wrong. I see the delay leaving Brisbane which makes sense as to why their is a delay in LAX, thanks for that information. Had anyone had to stay over night in LAX and been put up by Qantas, how does this normally work?

Thanks

Not sure why both are delayed. These are the two 2-class trans-Pacific flights each day. QF25 arrived pretty much on time into LAX on 31st (scheduled 10:30, actual 10:47), but QF175 was very late arriving into LAX - scheduled for 7am arrival and actual of 18:55. This was following a very late departure from BNE where the scheduled departure time was 12:10 and actual departure time was 12 hours later at just after midnight.

But even a 18:55 arrival into LAX should allow an on-time departure from LAX as either QF26 or QF176. So perhaps whatever delayed the BNE departure required more maintenance work to be carried out upon arrival at LAX??

So I guess the question is why was QF175 12 hours late departing BNE yesterday. And I have no idea why.

According to QF web site, QF26 was delayed for its Tuesday 30th January departure and eventually departed LAX at 13:11 on Wednesday 31st. The Scheduled Wednesday departure is showing on-time at 20:30.

According to QF web site, QF176 is delayed for its scheduled Wednesday departure until 10am on Thursday.

Thanks for your help guys. The offical word on the flight was a "mechnical issue" and there we talk the plane had been in LA for sometime. On Arrival to LA we were put up in the Hilton overnight, with vouchers for a sandwich which wasn't so bad for dinner. The next morning the plane departed almost on time (which is great for LA). The whole process was pretty good, and wasn't too much of a pain except for the 14 hour flight in daylight. The crew were fantastic, despite again the AV system stuffing up, and the menu system no longer worked, and there were no programs to tell you what was on (not AVOD I hear) so it was a little pot luck. Overall though, considering the amount of people affected I thought it was handled pretty well and the flight home was great, But hey thats just my opinion!

Thanks everyone. I see on Flyertalk it talks more about the mechnical problems, I support sometimes it takes time to fix these things, and I think everyone would prefer QANTAS took time to correct the problem before jetting from LA to BNE!

I guess everyone is different, but personally I would prefer a daylight trans-Pacific flight to the overnight option.

Absolutely. QF8 is the only civilised scheduled QF service from the Continental US plus QF4 from Hawaii
