Flaming Virgin Blue engine caused by worn-out parts

The investigation into the flaming engine on a Virgin Blue flight from Launceston to Sydney last year has found parts of the engine had worn out.
Last August a Virgin plane carrying 150 passengers to Sydney was forced to return to Launceston after several loud bangs were heard from the left engine.
