As I know FJ J pax can access the QF International J lounge in SYD, I am hoping that FJ J pax can access the QF Lounge in LAX.

Is this the case ?

Cheers

I am aware of that but somehow don't think that it will be on the same class as the QF lounge. It doesn't even have showers etc.

So do you know the answer to my question ?
Cheers

Oh, sorry. I just assumed that any prior arrangements FJ might have had with other lounges in the past would have been terminated since FJ opened their own lounge.

That's what I feared :(
Maybe someone else can give a more definitive answer

No access to the QF lounge for QFF members travelling on the FJ flight number. I can't speak for those with a QF flight number (QF3838).

Definitely no access to qf lounge if travelling on Fj flight number

Is there any way to book FJ metal with a QF flight number if booked as a classic award using QF points ?

But access is available for QF flight number on FJ metal.

As an aside, I think the FJ lounge sounds ok. For me, I stay at the Crowne Plaza hotel with a late check-out at 4.00pm, go to the airport, do the check-in and go to the lounge and there-fore it doesn't worry me that they don't have a shower, and then I catch the QF3838 @ 2330hrs for the flight to NAN

It sounds like their new lounge is better than the old shared lounge they were using previously which was pretty woeful. Its a shame they don't have showers but for the price vs QF I can put up with it. I'm usually coming from MSP so it would be nice to be able to have a shower before taking that late night flight but instead I make a beeline for the showers at NAN once landed while I wait for the connecting flight to SYD.
I've done the FJ J LAX run 3 or 4 times now and will do it again.

I said what I usually do so am ignorant to others requirements....are there any sort of shower facilities at the airport you can use, (paid or otherwise)

Just tried a random date of Wed 15 July 2015 to book a Classic award LAX/NAN & it's definitely only giving the option of FJ811 for 36,000 points plus USD5.60 taxes for whY. The QF codeshare flight must only be available for paid fares - a bit like EK trans-Tasman where Classic awards can only be booked eg BNE/AKL as EK435 not QF8770.

Re showers at LAX, no shower facilities that I could find outside of the lounges, not in TBIT anyway.

That is really surprising, Can't remember where you were traveling from, but is a day room at the Sheraton out of the question.

I've stayed at the Sheraton Four Points LAX on their 24/24 rate & used it for a 24 hour stay from 0800 Tue to 0800 Wed ex QF15 from BNE but if you checked in at 2100 the night prior to flying out you could check out 2100 & head straight to the airport.

Alternatively do an early checkin late afternoon so you can checkin your suitcase & get your boarding pass then head back to the hotel for a few hours so you can have a shower then just take your carry on to the airport & head directly through the TSA screening point to the FJ Lounge.

I'm usually transiting straight through from MSP with only a few hours to connect so no time for a hotel, just lounge time. I'm happy to be corrected if there are showers but I couldnt find any. I'm sure there is a priority pass lounge you could use but I'm not a member and I usually get lounge access through my QFF Gold but that doesnt apply when flying FJ. Its no biggie, just kinda annoying after a long day of travel and a long week of work before it. The money saved is more than worth it.
