First Time MH Business flight

Is QR Lounge Qatar?

Btw does the Business long haul connecting flight system work for which line i check in at the start even if its economy ticket for the initial short haul? As in I am flying BKK to KUL economy and then business from KUL to MEL and then economy Mel to Syd (This last leg was booked as part of the business return but they mustnt have had business direct to sydney so i am transiting via Mel and then its economy for some odd reason instead of business)

So can i check in on the business Counter at BKK and does that mean boarding etc is also via the business line even though i have a economy ticket for that leg or is it only that i can use the lounge but dont get any other benefits?

The other query i had was with my return ticket does it mean i need to go through customs and baggage collection at Melbourne even though my ticket was meant to be KUL to Sydney due to Melbourne being the first australian port i land in?

And finally i was thinking of using the limo service to change terminals at Kul (I think its from the main terminal to the satellite terminal), Where do i go when i land from BKK to KUL?

If booked as a business class ticket, have a look at your ticket terms and conditions.
It may say "business class travel permitted" or something similar. If this is the case, things change in your favour...sorta.

Otherwise just assume everything is economy class, and learn next time not to book premium cabin tickets that have economy class segments. These make the airlines a lot of money, at your expense!!!!!

The OP purchased separate tickets…one SYD-KUL return in business and then KUL-BKK return in economy.

Except for my return leg, qantas points redemption used KUL-MEL-SYD instead of KUL-SYD for some reason that was my only option, maybe available seats for points and the Mel-SYD is Economy. Sucks because i need to go through immigration etc :( Probably wont do that again.

So they denied me access at miracle world lounge. Saying its economy leg and business long haul leg is only for KL to Melbourne. Qatar was closed. I was told cathay Pacific is one world. But the lady at miracle told me Cathay doesn't accept Malaysian airlines customers.

Came 2 hours early for no reason. Damn shame.

Oh… did you require an invitation for the lounge? They might have had those at check-in? It’s possible in some cases that third party or contract lounges might be excluded from the rule.

FWIW it’s always a good idea to ask if you need lounge passes at checkin.

I did ask at check-in . First she said which memberships do you have and the. I said Oneworld should honour the long haul business class for my short haul.. then she told me to go to miracle lounge. But when I went there the lady said without it saying on my boarding pass they can't let me in

I did go to Cathay even though she told me Cathay won't accept Malaysian. I looked it up online and there was this brief period where Cathay refused Malaysian airlines . Apparently this happened to quite a few Airlines as there was some push to make everyone use the various third party miracle lounge.

But after complaints apparently Cathay did start accepting Malaysian again. So decided to take a shot.. initially they said no and then when I told them the Oneworld policy. They were looking it up for several minutes and seemed confused and called people and in the end basically just gave up and decided to let me in.

It was pretty decent in there especially the noodle bar.

I take it for my Melbourne to Sydney leg I won't be able to use any lounge as it's a domestic flight so probably no lounges available really

By same principle you should have access before your Aussie domestic flight. There are at least two longes in Sydney, the business class lounge and Qantas club.

Glad it worked out in the end with the CX lounge!
