Got a couple of queries. only experience i have with business thus far is Singapore Airlines. I am flying MH out of sydney to KL and then economy on separate flight to BKK. And then coming back, Flying Economy BKK to KL and then business from KL to Mel and then same ticket to sydney.

Question i had is what lounges do people recommend at Sydney and KL plus on the way back in Mel? I suppose in KL it might also depend on my KL to thailand flight and which terminal that is at?

When i looked up Sydney, it seems like its only Qantas or Plaza Premium and there is no actual Malaysian Airlines lounge which is a shame. From the past my experience of Qantas Business was not very good at least at breakfast (only time i have ever been there), it was so packed, i couldnt find a seat, the food was basically your standard bacon, sausages and eggs.

Other query i had was In singapore i could do book the chef. In MH There doesnt seem to be much choice in food. Is that the norm or do i need to go into another section? And it seems to be only 1 meal which is odd for such a long flight. Or should i wait and just pick when i am on board? Plus, I am not able to select any meals out of sydney to KL, only the other way out of KL to Mel i can select food online.

And lastly, i noticed someone mentioned a limo transfer between terminals. I probably have to change terminals from the australia flight to kl and kl to bkk. Is that what i should use? How often does it come?

SYD QF Business is currently under renovation with a temp lounge near Gate 24 in operation. And they are operating with capacity restrictions.
So I'd probably go to Plaza Premium, but equally don't expect much at breakfast, only so much room for hot dishes.

At KL, MH operates two lounges on the international side. The main lounge in the satellite terminal (C gates) that has both Business and First, and a smaller lounge in the main concourse (G, H gates). The Thai flights will arrive/ depart in the main concourse.

Food preselection only on ex-KUL flights. but service in J is pretty decent, particularly the satay entree.

Suspect the train (assuming it's operating) will be faster than the limo.

Wow Syd QF lounge closed is huge considering how many people use it. I will go Plaza , shame as main part of the lounge experience for me is the food.

Hmm so it sounds like its better to stay at the satellite terminal for the lounge and then make my way across although i will have to keep the timing in mind i guess.

Btw once i use one lounge, i cant go to the other lounge in the other terminal can i?

Read about my recent lounge experience at SYD and the ensuant debate.
(From post #198)

SYD-KUL
Plaza Premium technically but you could try the QF temp lounge under OW rules
However if you are a J passenger, PP will send you to the adjacent Skyteam lounge (entry next door but take escalator downstairs)
The QF temp J lounge, PP and ST lounges are adjacent to each other

KUL-BKK
Regional Mh lounge but no entry if you are Y unless you have Enrich/OW status

BKK-KUL
Miracle Lounge Concourse D but no entry if you are J unless you have Enrich/OW status

KUL-MEL
Mh golden lounge at the Satellite terminal
If you are Enrich Plat?/ OW Emerald (QF platinum) you use the right side, otherwise left side
The MH Lounge at the Satellite terminal is one floor directly above the Aerotrain terminal (in case you cant find it)

MEL-SYD
QF domestic J lounge if in J/status

.....

Preordering meals only ex KUL and destination eligible. Your destinations of BKK and MEL are eligible
Therefore no preordering meals ex SYD and Ex BKK

....

Mh has ceased terminal limo transfer at KUL between Satellite and Main Terminals
If you flight arrives into KUL between 0700 and 2100hrs, you just catch the Aerotrain, otherwise schlepp onto the bus. It can be a long walk.

Also note that "noodles" in the Dine anytime part of the J menu is basically just cup-a-noodles plus a bit extra like chicken/veges

Think OP should get access under connecting flights rule (assuming SYD-KUL in J), even on separate tix.
Possibly, though i think that is a OW rule rather than an explicit MH policy. Whether the lounge dragons know about it is another story.
As always worth trying.

Yes i was told this and hoping to use it if i can. I presume thats only after i have flown J class? AS in Syd - KUL J and then KUL - BKK Y and i use business lounge in both sydney and KUL.

What about on my return where my first leg is Y and then my long leg is J ? As in Bkk - KUL Y and then KUL - Mel J Class. Can i use the lounge in BKK as well? or only in KUL?
I haven't encountered any restrictions

Damn I didnt know this, I thought it was only one time entry to business lounge per flight. Sometimes i was in another terminal lounge and then i left to early to the terminal where my flight was departing from and thought it would be good if i could go wait in the lounge but i figured i cant as i already entered the lounge in the other terminal.
