KPC -Thank you very much for sharing your experience, that is what this forum is about.

Some posters on this board are rule lovers and often come across quite hostile when they post regarding the rules of the universe being broken - they do however mean well :p

Thanks again ;)

Congratulations on getting exit rows allocated for you and your girlfriend. It would be interesting to know if at some stage between now and the flight a QF Platinum requests exit row and none are available how safe is your allocated seat?

Maybe the Dr in front of your name could have been a factor. I don't know what rules are used for allocating exit rows and whether it is sometimes done by telephone support staff or someone in the background. As a QF Platinum I have been told that I cannot put in a request for exit row and can only be done at checkin. Well I politely asked her to put in a request anyway and within a couple of hours I had exit row allocated.

Every so often something different happens to what is the "norm". My thinking this is one of those times.

Of course it cannot hurt to ask and more power to those for whom the request is successful.

I have lost my exit row seat allocation after it was assigned before - I'm assuming that a CL member requested it after I had it allocated...

I also had an alleged 'aircraft change' that resulted in my losing exit row seat as well (I was suddenly allocated a completely random seat when I looked on the Qantas website), although I got the exit row back after re-requesting it.

Anyway, it's a bit of pot luck if you get to keep it or not, I guess.

Would you care to publish your flights again and we'll see if a QF Platinum is on your flights to test our theory. ;)

Commuter,

QF do state quite openly that an aircraft change does reset all allocations. I've seen this work to my advantage also so it's not always bad.
