Hi frequent flyers,

After lurking on here for several months, and finding myself visiting more frequently as my travel schedule increased, I told myself I should become more active in posting. Well, having just booked a MEL-SYD return and locked in enough SCs to hit WP by review date 30APR12, with today being a Monday and champagne being at least 4 days away, the next best thing would be posting my first!

I am very impressed with the helpfulness of everyone on this site, and I've learned a great deal about the world of AFFs. I only hit SG for the first time last year, and with my company policy being economy, hitting WP was unlikely. However, with some AFF cunning (particularly learning how to go about JASAs), I am looking forward to hitting WP a few days before review date. Having read enough of the warning about being addicted to SCs, I keep telling myself that I can stop at any time!

So, I hope to see you at one of the QPs over the next several months, and I'll be increasing my posting frequency.

All the best, and thanks for the advice.

Alex

Congrats exRAAF !! Welcome to AFF, well done on making WP!

Welcome to AFF! And well done in being able to make WP with some cunning planning!

Don't forget to post your travel too, that way you may find yourself bumping into a few AFF'ers in the lounge!

Nick

Congratulations on making WP and welcome to AFF. Forget about the QPs, you are now in the business class lounges with your status.

Welcome to AFF exRAAF!

That almost rhymes....

@ Boeta and Nick, thanks!
@ Maggies, I'm still QP for at least 2 months... Just learned what FLounge is and looking forward to it
@ straitman, I look forward to sharing a tale or two in the FLounge
@ Princess and JohnK, thanks also.

Do people use 'Meetings and Social Events' discussion board to figure out where everyone is and whether paths cross?

Yes.. Check out here:

2012

And inside you will see people post their travel plans for a particular month. some of us also enter our flights into planely: Planely and it will notify you if someone is traveling in the same time frame. As I use Tripit to record my itinerary, Planely will pull it in automatically when I log into it.

Thanks nlagalle, I've signed up to Planely now and linked it to my TripIt. Very helpful.

Welcome aboard! Tally ho, chocks away squadron leader.

An amazingly informative bunch on here, one of the best untapped travel resources around.

Thanks ReLoad! Your quote reminds me of Blackadder Goes Forth, Captain Flashheart...
"...last one back's a cough, hooray!". No offence intended to anyone.

Yes, agreed, can't believe how helpful this site is. Makes business travel that much more tolerable, maybe close to enjoyable?

I'll add my welcome to AFF, exRAAF. As you live in MEL, I wonder if you knew straitman in his previous life

Don't get too carried away :p, the next thing we will hear is that people really enjoy doing countless computations on getting the most status credits for the least amount of USD......... Wait.... What the......

Welcome exRAAF! And congratulations on having WP pencilled in :D

Lindsay, we may very well have crossed paths, it's a small RAAF, but I suspect straitman had some heavier stripes on his shoulders than my dental floss.

Must...Fly and ReLoad, 420SC to go and I have just pencilled in 10MAR12 for my promotion to FLounge.

To all, do many people use Planely? I don't see too many people on my flightboard, but I'll post my FEB flights into the meetings forum and see what the responses are.

Thanks again for the advice.

It's only a newish site, however several times I have been alerted to people travelling around the same time.

I don't feel a bona-fide enough member to contribute to the welcomes just yet*, but what the heck- welcome to AFF

* I don't feel as though I've attended enough social gatherings, met enough members in the flesh (just a few), done an F lounge run, or even bothered to sign up for paid membership  To qualify! (I will get round to it one day, I promise- I just like reading the ads too much ;))

Well, anyway, welcome! :p I've gained some great tips, observed some interesting discussions and learnt many useful things from this site.
