The QF F experience is great (my wife and I flew MEL - LHR -MEL) - although unfortunately my experience had some disappointments. It is disappointing to be in the F cabin (which is a long time goal for many), but treated as a second class citizen because I wasn't a Platinum member... This was most evident when skipped in meal ordering and our chosen meal was not available (only a couple of meals were available for each selection - despite the cabin being full). The cleanliness was also an issue - not the fault of the cabin crew. In terms of seating - traveling with a partner - QF F is not set up for sharing the experience easily. I actually think any seat next to is very similar, although if you want to be able to walk through to your travel companion easy, don't select the A seats unless you sit behind one another (which is not such a bad option and in fact one I would choose next time).

Sheesh! It's really not acceptable at all for Qantas or other airline, ever, that F paxs are subject to this silly behaviour of not having a meal choice available. They should provide pre-flight meal booking for F if they can't handle the basics. The price of F, especially on Qantas out of Australia, should mean they actually provide a basic F experience...

I would agree. It was disappointing because all we wanted was the degustation/tasting menu - which is pretty much standard for F. Yes it is a first world problem and I am first to admit it - but, with the price of F (using dollars or points or a combination) you really expect the full service. I believe for some of the selections on the tasting menu they only brought two or three on board. Doesn't really make sense when the degustation/tasting menu is an important selling point of the experience.

While we are talking menus... having never flown QF F - What can I expect on the QF9 departure Christmas day this year? Anyone know?

You should have done as the fellows from Sydney did (when QF ran out of XL pyjamas) and demand to get off when they didn't deliver the F service they promise. Of course, bets to do this before takeoff.:) Maybe we've got to start asking what part of the F service QF will be unable to deliver before they close the door!

Or perhaps pay after the full service has been delivered!

Thats very good bf - pro-rata payment based on product delivery - what's the chance of that concept getting off the ground?

Agree the F cabin should be fully catered no matter the status. Sure you can't load 10 (or whatever) serves of every meal, but it seems very odd.

I've also not noted crews skipping pax (except for obvious employees) in meal ordering arrangements in F. Sure, al my flights have been as WP or WP1 so I never had a problem getting what I ordered, but I've never observed options not being available in the cabin (though I guess if you're in 1A you wouldn't know if 4K didn't get their dessert desire).

Either way, a full service carrier should be better at this - specially with something like the popular tasting menu.

I don't know the exact loading of that but I do know that they definitely don't carry a lot of the full tasting menu.
That said a better approach from the FA would have been to explain that to you and offer to construct a bespoke tasting menu for the both of you from what was available including matching wines.

OMG - the same menu to North America as it was on QF 1 SYD/DBX 26 August 2016 last week...

Crikey... who would have thought??? :)IMG_1060-2.JPG

So are CL / Plat QF F passemgers given meal preferences over other F passengers? If true, I didn't know this, and don't agree with this policy.....

I think it's dependent on a few factors and varies depending on the crew.
For instance the seasonal dish on some flights which doesn't appear on the menu seems to be offered to CL/P1 IME, others on request.

Personally I think those on full freight tickets should have their meal choice taken first, followed by PCV and/or status.
QF do manage quite successfully (usually) to take meal orders by status on a full J cabin in the A330.
I don't agree that status should have no influence on meal orders in F. I appreciate I may be alone in this opinion.

The menus on QF international are changed every 3 months, and there does seem to be similar dishes on LHR and USA flights (without any pork or dishes containing alcohol for flights to LHR).
The next menu is due out next month for Sept, Oct and Nov, so hopefully one of our forum members will post these after a flight. I know I am quite interested, having a LHR first flight booked for October!

The North America menu would have excluded the reference to Pork and alcohol though ;) :p

All F pax are equal, but some are more equal than others. :D
Similar to the F greeting.

Then again I've never witnessed this occurring first hand, but I don't look out to see which sequence meal orders are taken..
Think about it, someone has to be the first. I wonder which seats are served first? Do QF have a FEBO approach?

Maybe you should ask this in the "now boarding" (ask a FA) thread.
